Effective communication is important when developing relationships with anybody but essential when building positive relationships with children. It is important that we use effective communication skills as children will model themselves on the adults around them. 1.1 Effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children as we are role models for children and we should set a positive example, For example if we behave in a silly way in front of a child when we have asked them to behave in a sensible way, the child is more likely to be confused as to how they are supposed to act, they will find it harder to understand the boundaries of what is good behaviour. Another example if I ask a group of children to line up and walk sensibly to the dinner hall and I…

To developing positive relationships with the children is the main key to a happy and calm environment. Without a positive and supportive attitude there will be no trust and honesty between ourself and the children. They will not feel like they can talk to us which may mean they could be keeping something important inside, which could affect their learning or social skills. Having good communication skills will help us develop better relationships especially with younger people. Some students who lack in confidence may find it hard to communicate at all with us, so if we come across to that student in a positive and gentle manner they are more likely to open up to us and talk. We would not like to be spoken to in a negative way so therefore we should also be careful of how we speak to others too. To Communicating positively with adults is an important part in helping build a strong and trusting relationship with each other. Communicating in the right way will show adults that we are able to talk to them about any aspects of our role as a teaching assistant or show them that we are willing to take on any task within that role. It will also help to discuss about concerns about a child, discuss about lesson planning or activities.…
