Personal Reflections Field study 1 enables us to experience the actual classroom scenario. We become open to the reality that students have differences and as a teacher we must bridge the gap so we would have an organize, peaceful and tranquil learning environment.
The first activity which is “School as a Learning Environment”, makes us realize that physical environment greatly contributes to the learning of students. Sometimes failure of learning is not only because of teacher factor but because of poor learning environment which results to students’ inattentiveness. Therefore, each school must have complete facilities and teachers must utilize them properly. Different activities must also be held in order to accommodate and improved the varied skills and talents of learners.
The second activity entitled “Theories of Learning”, creates an insight to us that learning strategies should be effective in order for the students to attain physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth.
The third activity which is “Individual Differences and Learner’s Interaction”, makes us understand that as a teacher-to-be, we must conduct learning activities which all students can participate and enjoy despite their individual differences.
The last activity that we have entitled “Home-School Link”, teaches us that the communication between the home-school has an effect on the learner because through it, parents and teachers will be able to monitor the students’ performances. Both of them would know and identify the learning needs and school problems of the student and come up to a solution that will definitely help the learner overcome the challenges. Through the integration of home and school, there will be a bigger chance that the student would have an excellent academic performance.
Field Study 1 serves as a training ground for us, future teachers. Through it, we are able to understand deeper the concepts and ideas we have learned from our professional courses like

I have chosen Centerville ISD as the school to complete my Field Experience 1 for this semester. Centerville Elementary has a different setup than the average school. Because of the low population, 1st-3rd grade classes are located in one building. Each class rotates throughout the day to three different teachers. Each teacher teaches two subjects. My mentor teacher, Mrs. Childress, teaches reading in the morning and science in the afternoon. The three teachers create a collaborative environment for the students. The small building has 4 classrooms, 1 is used as a computer lab/library for all the classes.…

Each time we teach a lesson, it is essentially a new ball game. The content changes over time, our students change and we change. The complex dynamics involved in the process of teaching and learning take on new layers of meaning when we stop to consider the ways in which we are similar as well as different from one another. Teachers need to be able to understand the dynamics of the classroom environment with learners from diverse cultural backgrounds.…
