In my opinion practice is more important than the precept. Leaders need to walk the talk. In closing I feel a good balance between physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being kindles the art of perfection and drive to great leadership. Leaders focus on a holistic view of the whole ecosystem including people who form the heart and soul of an organization. These leaders create a spirit of harmony and steer the ship forward for the benevolence of the collective teams. Becoming an effective leader no longer needs to remain a dream. With a better understanding of one’s own leadership style,…

“Leadership Archetype Questionnaire” (LAQ) takes into consideration the psychodynamic processes that occur within individuals and the concept of inner traits (Northouse, 2016). I completed archetype leadership self-assessment and compiled the 360 feedback from five colleagues and family members. I fit most with the models of coach, builder, strategist, transactor, processor, and change catalyst. I do not see any gaps or misalignments between the results of my assessment and how I perceive myself in leadership. I am aware of my skills, and traits. Those are my strengths. I believe that is why I am often placed in the roles of the empathetic, influencer leader who motivates the team.…
However, the coaching process is a collaborative one that is designed to change a person’s viewpoint and behavior in a manner that improves that person’s effectiveness and personal satisfaction. Essentially, the coaching process enables a person to reflect and self-discover what actions one is required to take (Hicks & McCracken, 2010). Hicks and McCracken (2011) stated that the attitude and behaviors needed to be an effective coaching manager appear synonymous with those attitude and behaviors required for leadership especially transformational leadership. This is because coaching and leadership tend to go hand-in-hand in terms of the type of relationship formed between a coach/leader and coachee/employee (Hicks & McCracken, 2011). For example, one might argue that Ann is using the individual consideration factor. This refers to an organizational leader who provides a supportive organizational climate in which that leader listens deliberately to others’ needs (Northouse,…

It is important to note that this questionnaire is not designed to provide a final evaluation of your ability as a managerial leader. As was mentioned earlier, the trait theory contains highly subjective perspectives. It means that the perception of leadership traits is associated with the assessment of leadership. Barry et al (2003) conducted an investigation which yielded that the majority of interviewees viewed leaders as being honest, competent, credible, forward-looking and inspiring. It can be inferred that when managers are under the evaluation of leadership performances these traits are likely to be the criteria adopted by subordinates or higher supervisors. As a manager, it is imperative to understand the demands of other individuals and followers in order to maintain the effectiveness and improve the weaknesses,…
After understanding my strengths, my second most important takeaway from this class was the importance of self awareness in a strong leader. Goleman (2011) states, “Self awareness means having a deep understanding of ones emotions, strengths, weaknesses, needs, and drives. People with strong self awareness are neither overly critical or unrealistically hopeful. Rather, they are honest- with themselves and with others.” What I have learned in my own personal analysis work- is that the more I work on my own issues the less critical I am of others.…

A coach will interconnect many specific characteristics and personality traits that will compliment how they perform and deliver as a coach. The United Kingdom Coaching Strategy describes the role of the sports coach as one that "enables the athlete to achieve levels of performance to a degree that may not have been possible if left to his/her own endeavours".…
