Example Of Informative Speech: An Inspector Calls
Good morning Sir, hope all is well. Just wanted to inform about a situation that occurred last night at approximately 2300 hours. S/O Ariel Weiland was posted at the ED lobby while Officer Omar was on signal 81 West tower and Officer Brandon 83P east tower. I was conducting a signal 93T. As I was driving around and following a suspicious vehicle, around 2340 hours I heard Officer Ariel called out Signal 51S ED 36 and stated: “No additional Officers needed”. I attempted to call her on the radio with no response. After finishing the outside perimeter tour I contacted her to explain what happened, what was the call about, she dismissed my question and simply stated that I sent you the report. As I read the report, I found out about the situation …show more content…
she never once called for a stat call or bothered relay the information to Dispatch, instead she choose to call a (51S) and added no additional Officers needed. I believe her behavior is alarming and very disturbing. Sir be advised that on Wednesday 10/26/16 I held a meeting in which I discussed to the Team, the need to call for backup whenever the situation is required, whenever facing a situation with patient, family members and visitors who seem to be angry, aggressive. I took an example of the situation that occurred recently where the father of a patient was irate and cursing at Security staff, the Officer did not call it over the radio, instead sent an email. I instructed all team members (Omar and Ariel) to abide by that rule and to write reports for all encounters. As a matter fact, Officer Paz was also present at that meeting. I find it very Odd that Officer Ariel ignored my directives and furthermore lied on her report about the event and dismissed my questions when I attempted to get more info about what occurred. Sir, upon further investigation, I spoke with Dispatcher Carolyn (312), she stated that Ariel called dispatch to report a 51S exactly at 2323 hours on her report she stated that she called Dispatch at 2308

    Ride Along

I went on my ride along on Tuesday, April 30 with the NM State Police. I rode along with senior patrolman Israel Rodriguez. I had a lot of fun and think I learned a lot about how law enforcement actually works. The officer showed that he is always thinking about the law and how he has to be very careful in what he does so that he doesn’t get god evidence suppressed in court because he makes a small mistake. He said that it’s hard enough to get evidence admitted sometimes even when you collect it lawfully. We started out by cruising I-25 until we noticed a southbound vehicle with the driver not wearing his seatbelt. We pulled him over and gave him a citation and went on. We then received a call about a hit and run coming into town from Deming so we parked out and looked for the vehicle to come by that fit the description that the dispatcher gave us. We were waiting when we received another call about suspected child abuse on a 6 month old girl. As we were driving back to the station we kept getting more interesting information about the case. It turns out that the alleged abuser is a deputy with the Sheriff’s office and LCPD had already responded to the domestic violence call and didn’t take any action against the officer. The child had been returned to the mother with red marks on her neck, legs, and back and the mother had taken pictures. Officer Rodriguez spoke with the mother and heard about the officer’s previous use of intimidation and force when they fought, but that she didn’t want to proceed with charges, just that she wanted the incident documented. Officer Rodriguez wrote up a report and we jumped back on the highway when almost immediately we were lights and sirens toward a vehicle vs. truck collision on 185. We raced over there and jumped on the scene in which the motorcyclist was very injured and they ended up calling the helicopter to airlift him to the El Paso trauma unit. After a while Officer Rodriguez…

It is important to bear in mind that law enforcement officers have to preserve order and protect citizens. Because of this very challenging job, often times, officers find themselves involved in extremely unpredictable and often dangerous situations in which they risk serious injury to their lives so that other citizens may be safe. Many officers are injured or killed trying to protect the public. In order to minimize harm to others and to themselves, law enforcement officers must exercise critical and quick judgment, often when the circumstances are volatile and potentially deadly. Sometimes, police officers do not exercise integrity for their job (Chan, 1997).…
