Everything Everything Maddy Character Analysis

In the book Everything Everything Maddy has a sickness (SCID) where there is a group of life threatening diseases that her body can’t fight off and if she catches them and goes outside there’s a ninety nine percent chance she could end up in the hospital. Although Maddie in the book she leaves her house knowing what could happen all to see the ocean. Was it worth it? Her bravery shows otherwise. Just for her to step outside and touch something could leave her to be dead. She had to lie to her mother and walk out of the house, which to me is very wrong because of the consequences she may encounter, but really what does Maddy have to lose. That is how she showed an immense amount of bravery.

They’ve been struggling ever since. Whats truly fascinating though is that her mother never gave up, stopped loving her, or even thought to have her hospitalized. Her mother has cared for her and trapped herself inside the same home Maddy’s living in just to keep her company and constantly look out for her. Her mother goes through the same routine everyday with Maddy. There is no doubt that she loves her. Most importantly though she's kept Maddy safe and secure from the outside all her life.
