I remember when I was in 6th grade my dad and I flew out to Arizona to watch some spring training games. The cool thing is that unlike many parents,

Yesterday was a rollercoaster of a day...well, this year has been a rollercoaster itself anyway! I want to write this for myself...to remind me that the glory belongs to God and to Him only. None of it would've been possible without Him. I am not that special but He saw me and believed in me. Yesterday, finally, I got my degree as a Doctor...A DOCTOR!!!!!! :)...what a huge, incredible word; It has been a wondrous road since I came to this country 14 years ago: So much has happen along the way! I remember I didn't speak English, I didn't know the culture, nobody in my family had ever graduated from college, we grew up so poor, hope was scarce in many areas and on top of that my family didn't even believed or taught me about love, at the end I decided to come following my heart and the man I thought it was the one. It is truth that heartbreak came but blessings came too: I got my baby girl and kept going day by day learning, studying, raising her, loving her and Him. I had to go through some discrimination, some hate, some isolation, even a miscarriage but guess what? with Him I survived because He sent many more blessings including a sweet man and a beautiful baby boy...speaking of underserved…

I have two memories of the Church—both of which are embarrassing. The first was during my First Communion, which is third of the seven sacraments where someone first receives the Eucharist (the body and blood of Jesus). For the ceremony, my parents dressed me in a terribly fit suit and at that age I was missing both of my front teeth—I looked ridiculous. I can hear my family chuckle behind me. I waited until the rest of the kids began blowing out their candles, then I just blew into my hand extinguishing the “invisible-flame.”…

My dad was extremely involved in my life especially when I was younger. I was a daddy’s girl one hundred percent growing up. My dad got me involved in all the sports I partook in. Encouraging me, giving me lessons, and helping me become better in any way he could. My mom was normally just there for moral support but my dad was the one to push me. Secondly, another reason why I admire my dad is his ability to admit his wrongs very easily and try to get others to balance him out. If my dad is unable to do something, he will let you know then and there, giving you enough time to make arrangements. People always say that it takes a man to admit wrong and since my dad is very good at doing this, I admire and respect him tremendously. Also, since he is very adamant on staying true to these values, he has always tried and instill these values into me, and for that reason I am thankful and appreciative as not everyone gets guidance like this.…
