Lowering home heating costs is easy if one follows three basic steps. People who own older homes should have an energy audit to find ways to reduce heating costs. Heating costs can be reduced by using fossil-fuel alternatives: solar, wind and geothermal. Reducing heating costs not only saves money, but it also increases the value of a home and helps the environment. Installing solar panels will help reduce heating costs, but they are unsightly and expensive.
