Essay On Why Athletes Should Be Paid
Hundreds of Millions of dollars all around the world are being used to pay our athletes. My question is should they be paid this astronomical amount of money. Certain athletes earn millions while various people all around the world can barely afford the necessities, such as food, water and shelter. This is a problem that desperately needs to be addressed. To achieve this we should employ taxes, but the money made off this should go to charity, also we should lower salary caps, thus we restrict the amounts teams can spend on their players. In this report, I will be explaining why athletes should be paid less

So how much do athletes receive a year, the top 10 paid athletes total pay added up is just less than 1 billion dollars. 1 billion dollars spent on 10 people this is just too much. To illustrate this, with the money the water project could buy 83,300 water points for people in Africa with lack of clean and safe water. In addition to that could also supply 1,000,000,000 dollars worth of food for starving Africans, or 1,000,000,000 dollars worth of school supplies. This could create a enormous difference to children all over the world.

The reason being the millions of dollars being spent on athletes could be used on people in need all over the world. It could be used to buy thousands of water sources for African citizens lacking clean, safe water, or food, water, clothing or education. To do this money earned by taxes would go straight to a Charity, which would supply people in need all over the world. Also salary caps would limit the amount of money Teams could spend on their athletes, any excess money that would’ve been used on salaries could go to the charity. In summary a gigantic amount of money would be raised Hundreds upon hundred of millions even billions, this would solve the overpaying problem and the other problems all around the

The single most debated topic when it comes to compensating student-athletes concerns whether student athletes should be paid beyond the full cost of attending school. The pay for play doctrine, in which athletes would earn a portion of the revenue they help generate, is a highly controversial topic that has become more popular in recent years. The arguments in favor of pay for play originate from the fact that the players are the reason why the NCAA is able to make television contracts. These contracts include $11 billion over 14 years just for the television rights to March Madness. Without the players of different sports and genders, the NCAA…

Then most importantly they most likely won’t need a lot of money if they already have a scholarship. Yes, I have thought about the athletes that may not get scholarships, but finding a Division 1 athlete without a scholarship is slim to none. Therefore say we pay the college athletes, and the coaches have less money to do for the college athletes like get better equipment for practice, and without good equipment, the athletes most likely won’t get to their best potential and then we have less skilled athletes and it is not as fun to watch. With paying the athletes, it will just become a very corrupt…

The first reason why athletes should not get paid is because they already get free things from their sponsors to their fans. “The NCAA athletes get paid with psychology classes, track suits, knee braces, and ice baths.” This proves that the athletes get free stuff some of it that they don’t even use. Also the more popular you get the more fans you have and more sponsorship you have which means more money/gifts.…

American Olympic athletes should be paid more money for training and competing. They currently do not make enough which is leading to less than optimal performance for the American team. Most olympians are making less than $15,000 per year(less than minimum wage), which makes it tough for them to train to their potential and win. America’s top athletes are going to play football, basketball, or baseball instead of competing in the Olympics. We are also being beat by other countries that pay and value their athletes more.…

Maybe college athletes should get paid because they half to work really hard to get on the college teams and leagues. The players play sports a lot as kids too get into college basketball, football, lacrosse, and college soccer. College players spend a lot of time practising and planning for all of their games and they even show more hustle than the players from the NBA. This already proves that they could and should get paid. As much as we all love watching sports we also love how the different skills are like College to the NBA.But that’s not all we like, some of us even like the college players more than the NBA players but it’s not like we’re talking about the very skilled ones like Stephen Curry, Lebron James, and Chris Andersen.…

Today, college athletes are working every day, 24/7. These athletes are working day in and out to sure that they meet academic standards and also to keep up with their sport when they’re playing competitive. They not being rewarded or credited for their achievements. They are also living with no money. Since these athletes are living off with no money, they are tempting to take the money from their sports booster club or others donation that are helping them. The problem with this is that athletes are not only getting themselves in trouble but also getting their athletic departments in trouble as well.…

The Topic I decided to debate was should college athletes be paid a salary? The side that I decided to pick was the pro side. To begin, every year new college athletes are drafted, they are excited to play a college sport and represent their school.”Journalist Michael Wilbon has written that seeing the $11 billion deal between the NCAA and CBS/Turner Sports for March Madness between 2011 and 2024 prompted him to change his mind about paying student-athletes. First of all, this deal shows the amount of money the NCAA is bringing in over the course of one month alone. March Madness is one of the most watched sporting events in history. Not to mention the money being made off this event is not trickling down to the players, who are the stars of the tournament.”…

Associations, leagues, teams, networks, and many others which are involved in sports are making loads of money of the success of these sports. College athletes spend countless of hours practicing and studying the game they love in order to perform. The amount of money these athletes bring into their schools is ridiculous. The coach's salary for an average D1 school is about 1.64 million dollars a year, Some athletes have received help from others, these athletes have been kicked out of the sport they love and were forced drop out of school due to the loss of their scholarship. It's not fair for these athletes to bring in so much revenue for the school and get nothing in return (Tribune, Chicago. Do professional athletes deserve multi-million dollar salaries? Sports are very important part of our life. In old days, people play sports for fun and for exercise. Some people play sports for their countries. Today every country have a main or popular sport. There are a lot of popular and great players in the world. But today players and departments take games as a money business. In America there are many players who play sports very well. They play for their country and earn money for playing. It depends on the players that how they play. If they play very well then they get millions of dollars as salaries from their industries. Every player's salary is in contrast. But there are few players who have parallel amount of pay. When players earn millions of dollars they do not care about anything. They just waste money on expensive cars, homes , drugs and alcohol etc. Sometimes they put their lives in danger. Some players go to jail due to their money. I think it is not logical to pay them this much. It will be good if they help charities and other organizations who need help with their money. The salary of players is more than the firefighters who put their lives in danger to help other people. Their pay is more than president of America. Barack Obama earns $400,000 a year. But the players earn more than him. I believe that they should get half of the pay they earn now. I think only those players get more pay who got injured during the high risk game and they need money for recovery. I guarantee that if they earn less pay than they earn now, then their will be some improvements in economy too. I think sports persons should earn less money because if they continuously earn millions of dollars and waste it on luxury things and drugs then one day sports will completely be a source of business. So professional athletes should earn less money then then they earn…

The money which is given to players should be reduced because what they do isn't worth all the money they get. Because the average salary of a professional football player of February 2010 was listed at about $1.8 million year (Mandi R Hall, www.ehow.com). There are also other people that have worked harder throughout their lives by working and studying. Players perform a sport where they do not save anyone's life unlike doctors who study for 6 consecutive years, work for several hours, and literally save people's lives. But the problem is even doctors they don’t gut that high salary like the average in 2009 for doctors in the US was $226,000/ year (mdsalaries.blogspot.com). There are also other careers like police officers who devote their lives to provide a safe community.…
