Choose one of the thinkers from your group presentation. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of this thinker's theory and discuss it's current relevance to the subject area. “Daily monitoring: your nutritionist supports you day after day” (DukanDiet.co.uk 2013). Pierre Dukan worked and have experiences in the field of nutrition and dietitian for more than thirty years. Originally, he focused in treating children with paralysis and medical science. According to FamousAuthors.org. (2012), he has published 19 books, which sold more than 2 million copies and specializes in eating habits for over 30 years of experience. Pierre Dukan was a general professional in Paris, in 1975, when he first experienced with a case of obesity. Dukan thought of an alternative way to prevent patients from regaining their lost weight after dieting. This essay will be discussing about Pierre Dukan's theory on going on a high protein, weight lost diet, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of his theory, and how it is related to the food and nutrition course. According to bbc.co.uk (2012), from 2011 to 2012, people with eating disorders admitted in hospitals rose by 16% in England. This shows that the amount of people experiencing an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa or simply known as 'Anorexia', is increasing in numbers. The eating disorder is determined by restricting the intake of food due to the fear of gaining weight. Another eating disorder is called bulimia nervosa, or a disease of hunger which affects the nervous system. This eating disorder involves the individual consuming a large amount of food in a short time and attempt to vomit out the food by taking laxative or diuretic, or excessive exercise.
