    The Cornell method of taking notes is one of the strongest ways to increase the usefulness of taking notes. When using this method, the student would fold the paper in half, creating two columns. The left side is known as the “cue column”, and on the right is the “recall column” or the note taking column. When using Cornell, the right side should be short and to the point. Avoid long sentences and use symbols and abbreviations instead. The right side should also be executed by following the five underlying phases: recording, questions, reciting, reflecting, and reviewing. Recording takes place during the lecture.
