English Reflective Report
Completing English 102 Before entering an english class, such as one taught by Professor Hunter, students must come into the class prepared to learn, and be willing to learn new things. When coming into Professor Hunter's class, I knew I had to have some prior knowledge of writing papers, how to make a works cited page, know how to do an annotated bibliography, and most importantly know how to revise my papers so I could turn in all papers confent that I would not have many grammatical and punctuation errors. Throughout English 102, I have used prior knowledge to help me succeed, as well as gain knowledge to help me write and revise my papers. While in High School, I took many english courses as I fell in love with the act of writing. I loved to write stories about my own experiences at first, but soon started to write research papers my junior year, and fell in love with those. I loved the fact of finding information about other people's opinions and using those opinions in my own paper. Throughout High School, I obtained many writing skills that I would then translate into my college english classes. Some of those skills consisted of making a works cited page. At first, I learned how to do a works cited page by manually putting in the information, such as the author's name, title, date accessed, …show more content…
This is something that i have always struggled with, and hope to improve on. I feel as though i tend to catch myself making this mistake, and being able to fix it, but I hope to not be making these mistakes here in the next year or so. Also, I hope to improve on my writing skills, and learning to write lengthy papers, as I struggle to write papers in great length. I plan to improve this skill by continuing to write papers that require length, in hopes I can write long papers with no problems at

Bradford, I really enjoyed your post as we share the same ideas and seem to have the same experiences with multiple supervisors. I liked how you stated up front that unity of command and unity of direction mean different things and not should not be confused with each other. To me, unity of command is the most important because unity of direction cannot exist without it, especially in criminal justice. Like you said, each officer should only have one direct supervisor that is ultimately responsible for him or her because confusion can arise if there are more than one. I saw this recently at my agency and it really affects the newer officers if the problem is not corrected. I also saw how unity of direction can really work when one…

Pre-O helped me transition because it helped me make friends before classes started. While everyone else were attempting to make new friends the students of Pre-O already formed bonds and found friends. It also helped me become familiar with the campus. The rest of the incoming freshmen were struggling during orientation because they didn't have the advantage that we did. They asked us all types of questions such as 'Where is Modlin?', 'What is the quickest way to get back to the dorms?', and so on. All in all, it was just a nice feeling to be able to knowledgeable and not have to struggle with new surroundings.…

As I began English 111 this summer I thought I was a good writer unfortunately. I was not skilled in writing like I expected. As I progressed in in this course it has become evident to me I lacked the proper structure when formulating an essay. I essentially saw that I was going to need a lot of improvement when devising a good thesis statement and fixing grammatic errors. I also had to refrain from using sentence fragments to improve the flow of my writing. Despite, all the obstacles, I have developed the skills needed to formulate an essay. However, this course has given me the knowledge needed to succeed in writing many well-structured papers.…

My former English professor would always say “find a way 101”, whenever a student found themselves struggling in her class. At first I did not understand why she was so rude to her students, this was until after I graduated high school when I realized I was wrong. She was not rude, she was not mean, she was preparing her students for college level English classes. Reflecting on my past encounter with the toughest teacher at my former high school, I can say I feel prepared for a college level class. Although I may have taken the most rigorous class in high school, that does not mean I am expected to pass without falling short. However, I am certain that I am ready for the challenges that my professor will assign me in the fall.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

Extremely worried, her parents inquired regarding their daughter's future, alleviating their worries, the doctor's advice to them was to be diligent and "treat her as you would a normal child." Knowing I have been different did not stop me from participating fully in life, especially during my childhood. In December 2012, we received the wonderful news that the final hole had closed. The odds were in my favor since I have been lucky to have never needed surgery, nor required hospital care from a critical injury. I believe that there is a reason I exist on this earth; and my blueprint…

Before this semester, I had no clue in the world what rhetorical skills were, and now I am writing a paper on them.
