Quotes
"I told you. His isolation can 't be broken. He can never come to believe that anybody will ever help him out. Ever. If he once thinks there 's an easy way out, he 's wrecked." (30)

Now, it is important that Ender is away from his parents so he can still think he is a burden to them because he was a “Third.” As long as these thoughts are in his mind, then he will be able to carry out his mission in Battle school. He needs to think he is still an outcast at home and in society in order for him to feel isolated. If by any chance Ender knows that his parents really miss him he would feel homesick, much more than he already does. Parents usually overprotect their children. They somehow think that their child cannot defend himself and usually they feel, as they need to keep them away from the problems. Ender must not ever feel that his parents protect him; he needs to feel that no one is going to solve his problems for him. At an early age Ender must learn to take decisions for his own and if his parents were in the picture this would not be possible. In addition, if ender thinks that he has friends and family that misses him, apart from Valentine; he would become soft and vulnerable. They need to make sure he they keep him on guard and hard. He must continue to be a loner or outcast of some sort and to be alert at all times. Like it is said, Ender can have friends. At such an early age he was told he was not going to see his family for ten years and that he had to leave Earth in order to arrive to battle school. Now, why is battle school not on earth? This quote is relevant because it was of upmost importance that Ender was away from his parents in the process of his development in order for the mission to succeed. Furthermore, we read that Ender was not even allowed to communicate with his family. Maybe if his family had known the things he was put through they probably would take him away from battle school. Because of their parents most kids do not reach independence at such an early age. It was important that Ender was as far as possible from his parents and placed in a situation where he had to learn how to depend on

The sunlight, levels of gravity and the curve of the ground was unfamiliar to Ender; given time he fell to love Earth for the short time he spent there, post-Battle School. Shortly after his return, he goes to Command School on Eros, that the Bugger’s had built prior to the overthrow. The ceilings are extremely low, passages are narrow, the floor slopes downward, and the lower gravity is discomforting. Ender spends a good amount of time in the stimulation room, where it turns out he is actually commanding the fleets. After his success, he leaves for the first human colony on a former bugger world, which becomes: Ender’s World. While on the search for another group of colonists, he realized that the landscape mimicked a fantasy game that he had played in Battle School, where the buggers communicated with Ender and ironically lead him to their hive…

The war between the buggers and humanity has ended, yet Ender has lost all happiness. Throughout the novel, the Battle School tested Ender through a series of games. Whether the games be face-to-face or through a computer, these games have had meaning. The games have impacted Ender’s entire life. A continual theme throughout Card's novel is that games do not exist in opposition to reality. The author shows that every action has a meaning. Even when the action has been manipulated, changed, or not understood, it still has a meaning to it. In all of the games that Ender played, each one was unfair or misunderstood. In these circumstances, Ender must think about the big picture and not the small details. On top of that, Ender tends to hurt his…

Through his observations, Joseph Campbell discovered a pattern called the Hero’s Cycle, in which no matter the culture all heroes follow. In the book, Ender’s Game written by Orson Scott Card, the main character Ender follows the typical Hero’s Cycle. In Ender’s world the humans are planning to destroy their alien enemy the Buggers. When Ender was six years old the government sent him off to Battle School, the first step in making him into a someone that could command the human army against the Buggers. Because of his talents, and the government's despair, he progressed at a quicker rate than the others. He graduates from Battle School at an early age and progresses to the highest school called Command School. At the age of 12 while doing what…

In Ender's Game, euphemism is present while the government does not tell Ender the whole truth about his activities, which affects Ender’s actions drastically, proving euphemism alters people's decisions. When Granger travels to Ender’s house to recruit Ender to help destroy the bugger aliens, he used tons of understatements to persuade Ender to come. Granger tells Ender that he will fight for Valentine, Ender’s sister, who will be saved from the possibility of dying but, Ender is really needed to save humanity. This leads Ender to reluctantly agree to go with Granger. To convince Ender’s parents that the mission is safe, he fabricates the truth by saying, “War games. All the boys are organized into armies. Day, after day, in zero gravity,…

Friendship - Friendship is one of the most prevalent themes in Ender’s Shadow as shown by several instances within the novel. For his entire life in Rotterdam as well as when he first arrived to Battle School, Bean had no friends for the reason that he didn’t believe it was necessary to construct and build upon emotional bonds with other people. However, Bean becomes aware at Battle School that if he wishes to fulfill his present and future goals he would have to start befriending people since he understood that eventually he wouldn’t be able to do everything by himself. As a result, Bean had made friends with Nikolai, a boy from his launch group, and interacted with his fellow comrades in Dragon Army. This is significant due to the fact that…

He becomes increasingly uncomfortable with the fact that he is getting rewarded for committing horrific acts, such as (unknowingly) killing Stilson and being accepted at the battle school, and killing the Giant and being allowed access to Fairyland. It is possible that he sees the Giant as an image of Graff – a looming figure watching his every move, offering rewards if Ender can meet their secretly gruesome demands, and offering more chances if he cannot. Ender’s morals – while helping him to stay true to himself and what he believes is right – prevent him from seeing the rewards of his actions and keep him focused on the consequences. While this is not necessarily a bad quality, especially in Ender’s case when he is subject to some horrible things, it is simply worth it to note that Ender became distressed after beating the Giant’s Drink, where other students of the school would likely feel a sense of triumph for achieving this. Ender’s ambitions to be the best should have brought this sense of pride in him for doing something that no one else ever had in the game, however his morals caused him to, instead, address the fact that he does not think it is right to be a murderer and he does not see it as his place to deal…

A boy named Rashad once went into war at twelve years old. He was really, really smart but sadly, he didn’t have a choice to go to college and be a doctor as he wished. During the war he got shot in the leg and he didn’t receive as much medical attention as needed so he had to drop out of the war. He couldn’t go back to school because it was too late. Consequently, he was forced to work at a corner store with a missing leg. He went through all this suffering at the young age of twelve and it’s really sad. Moreover, children shouldn’t be forced to go into war. Kids should be at home going to school everyday, playing sports, and even having a job to keep a little money in their pocket. Also, war is very dangerous and could change your life forever. Others may disagree, they may think that children going into war is a good idea. In this writing, I will be…
