Eight Hours Research Paper
An eight hour workday seems plenty fair when the job comes with good benefits and decent pay. Some may agrue that a six hour day is more than enough but really they are losing two hours of pay and may be considered part time and some part time employees don't get the benefits full time employees do. Firstly, growing up and attending school your there for almost an eight hour day so why should a work day be any different if your used to already spending eight hours of your day learning? Working a eight hour shift is very beneficial. It can come with healthcare for you and your family. If you have children they are at school while your at work, or smaller children will attend daycare and some jobs provide that or your weekly paycheck should help …show more content…
It stats that the six hour work employees took a break every fifty-two mintues for seventeen minutes, seems like that's more breaks in a six hour shift than it is in a eight hour shift. With more breaks I don't think it will make employees work better or increase production. And your losing two hours of pay for only working a six hour shift with lots of breaks in between. Lastly, if your working a normal eight hour shift that still leaves plenty time of the day to have a evening with family or time for yourself to do what you need to, or to prepare for the next work day. Some employees get offered overtime and work a twelve hour shift, but they are getting double time for their pay and how beneficial is that to an employee who could really use that as well as healthcare or paid time off. There's a ton of benefits. Also in today's reality it is almost impossible to afford a home, the car you want, bills, or even certain things in life that you wouldn't be able to get without a full eight hours at work everyday of the week. It is my opinion that a full eight hour work day is the normal hours employees should work for full time benefits an decent pay. So in the end the eight hour shift is more

As the title puts it, “The Story of an Hour” is a story that happens in one hour. This story mostly revolves around one woman, Louis Mallard, who is used to develop many themes in the story. Some of the themes brought up have a different interpretation from what is normally known in the usual circumstances. The themes of freedom and death have been projected quite in a way that gives a reader another understanding different from what is already known. Other themes that are evidently seen are time, freedom and confinement, marriage and emotional regression. The title of the story also shows how so many things can happen within a single hour. In normal circumstances, death brings sorrow, grief, seclusion, guilt, and regrets, amongst other feelings depending on the course of death. In this story, death brings some of these feelings such as sorrow and grief. I argue however, that in this short story Kate Chopin uses death to demonstrate how death can not only cause pain and sadness but also bring joy, independence and freedom.…

There is no doubt that you mean well and all you want for us students is to succeed and do well in life, and there is also no doubt you enjoy wasting students’ time. Seven hours feels like an eternity and it is not really necessary. Five hours and a half hours is plenty. One hour for Language arts, one hour for science, one hour math, one hour for History and thirty minutes for lunch. I enjoy sleeping. It releases tension and stress that you put on me for the seven hours prior to that moment. But, what I don’t enjoy is the sound of my alarm. It just reminds me that I have to go and listen to how earth is made of rock, how Pi is an irrational number, why George Washington was our president and where periods go and don’t go. I mean don’t get me wrong I love learning new things and I think it is important to know certain things but seriously seven hours? How is that helping anything? My alarm is just part of the problem. You’re the real problem. Oh, how I would love to hit snooze on my alarm, but if I miss a day or a few the person that takes care of me and is actually essential to my life might have to attend Court.…

Many jobs today work around the conventional time schedule, such as working 8am to 4pm. The human body comes built with a biological clock that keeps everything in sync. One may ask what a biological clock is. This paper will explore the effects that are caused by working shift work. Shift work can be defined as “a system of employment where an individual’s normal hours of work are, in part, outside the period of normal day working and may follow a different pattern in consecutive periods of weeks” (Dictionary,2009) . Working shift work may cause many negative effects in many aspects such as sleep, family and health. Studies by researchers from ‘The NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL of MEDICINE’ show that people who worked shift work had a higher amount of reported vehicle collisions. (Barger, Cade, Ayas, Cronin, Rosner, Speizer & Czeisler, 2005). With shift working having many issues it may make one re-think whether it is worth the toll it takes on the body. This paper explores all of the major issues that arise from working shift work.…
