Eddie Buried Onion
Eddie is the main character of the book Buried Onion. Eddie is 19 years old who had been in trouble some many times. However the death of some many love ones has make him realized that he need to change he life for good. Even though Eddie is a college drop off he is try to do whatever is possible to make out of Fresno, California. Eddie can be described a hardworking, fun, and smart young adult.

Eddie is very hard working person because even since he drops out of college he is always looking for work. The types of works than Eddie gets are not easy. He has to be lift air conditional, dump heavy trash and sometimes he has to do landscaping. Eddie leave by himself meaning that he has to take all the responsibility that most 19 years old would not take. Eddie do not leave with his mother, he has to cook. According to the books he has a lot of cockroach but somehow Eddie tries to get rid them. Eddie is a young adult that is fun to be around.

In one section of the book it describes how Eddie is having a good time with his friends Normal in a swimming pool. Angel one Eddie‘s friends who is always getting trouble always invite Eddie to go out but Eddie refuse because he do not what to be involved with those type of people. At point in the book we learned that the coach, Jose, and Eddie go swimming that days is believe to be one of the fun day Eddie. After Eddie go and eat Ice cream. Even though, Eddie is trying to be better that the rest of the young adults in his neighborhood he still manages to have fun.     Diaz believes that the feeling of isolation is a self-imagined feeling that helps a person justify why he/she is an outcast in society. In the novel, the theme of isolation is common throughout all the main characters; Oscar, Lola, and Beli. To start with, Oscar begins as a typical Dominican male. As a child, Oscar was considered “a Casanova” who was “a ‘normal’ Dominican boy raised in a ‘typical’ Dominican family” (11). Oscar eventually grows “fatter and fatter,” develops “zits,” and gets “self-conscious” because his “interest in “Genres...bec[o]me[s] synonymous with being a loser...” (16, 17). Because Oscar suddenly turns into an outcast, he blames his dorkiness and homely appearance for his lack of acceptance by the outside world. What Diaz underlines, though, is that Oscar has control over his life, but isolates himself by letting everyone elses opinions and judgements affect his actions and opinions of himself. Next, Lola believes she is isolated in that her mother has certain expectations of her to be the perfect Dominican daughter.     The Independence of Eddie Rose starts in a house on Indian reservation. The very first things we get see is the destructive house hold that Eddie Rose, his mother Katherine Rose, and little sister Theia live in.
