Due Date
“Heather, you should go write your essays or study for your exams now!” “Don’t worry, I will do them later!” That is the daily conversation you will often hear around the house between my parents and me. The conversation generally begins the day the assignments are provided and two weeks before each exam week, but the “do it” part does not occur until the night before the due date. On nights before each due date, the confident and carefree Heather that once said “don’t worry” can be seen struggling to keep her eyes open at 4:00 am in the morning while shoving a textbook of information into her head. As much as I detest it, I am the “pro” in procrastinate, and the laziness in me embraces the motto “if tomorrow is not the due date, today is not the do-date.” Procrastination, the act of delaying an action, is real and happening around the world. …show more content…
I had also decided that I was prepared to write my essay on my procrastination and indolence. Somehow, time fast-forwarded to the day before the essay’s due date, and I now realized that I have been procrastinating on my essay about procrastination. Fortunately, this is a psychology class, and I have learned many different theories to help change my undesirable behavior for good. To fix my level of procrastination, I should use the incentive theory of motivation, social-cognitive learning theory, and approach goals

The art of procrastination has troubled high school kids for quite some time now. Im sitting here typing my own essay at the eleventh hour, hoping that as the deadline approaches I can piece together an essay to save my grade. “Procrastination is for the efficient at heart”, this quote captures the procrastinators only strength: the ability to make the most out of the time they have. Most students will crack as the pressure of meeting the deadline with quality work overbears them, as they regretfully wish they spent their time wiser. Few will rise up to the challenge and meet the standards, but what separates the students who succeed and those who miserably fail?…

I’ve overcome procrastination because instead of staying on the couch and not doing the dishes I stand and actually do them, and to be honest it felt good because I don’t have to do it later like the author said in the article because it's worse in our future because the dishes might pile up even more or you can get in trouble for not getting up and doing it right away overall I think I have overcome procrastination so far. What helped be successful on facing procrastination is actually wanting on doing it and there's not wanting to get in trouble. Procrastination is what drives people from their work, study, and even determination. Focus is what is needed in everyday lives, and though it is tempting to "delay" what is needed to be done, no excuse is worth it so instead of just “delaying it” just do…

“There's nothing wrong with procrastination. Or is there? I'll leave it to you to decide, but only if you have the time.”- Craig Brown. Procrastinating plays a role in someone’s life. It is something that we all as humans try to overcome, but in reality, it is something that will impact us in some way, at any cost. Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

Always wait until the last minute. This may seem counterintuitive, as teachers and parents are always telling students to not procrastinate. However, procrastination is what drives a student to success. Procrastination gives a student the drive to finish that assignment or project that was assigned weeks ago and is due tomorrow. As time boils down, a student’s senses become sharper, allowing them to focus on the task at hand. How can one not enjoy the excitement of completing a project in the nick of time, or the pride felt when they have bested their friends in a competition of who can survive with the least amount of sleep?…

There are countless ways a student can avoid success in life, but one of the main behaviors which can cause an individual to fail is procrastination. When students have to complete a task or a big project many of them confuse their priorities, and find themselves waiting until the last minute to finish the task at hand. Another cause for procrastination could be the lack of initiative the student might have in completing an assignment. Or simply some students may fear failure, and may not have full confidence in themselves in order to do the assignment. Procrastination may seem like an easy way out in beginning, but if it’s not address it turns into a huge obstacle of unnecessary stress at the end.…

College is difficult, it demands a lot of your time, and attention. Have you ever said the words,” I will do it later”? We are all procrastinators in some way or another; the difference is some people stick to their deadlines (with the proneness to misjudge the amount of time it takes to finish). According to Center for Student Excellence (CSE) advisors many college students find themselves waiting until the last minute to study or complete assignments, and students often find themselves procrastinating due to their newfound independence, a multitude of distractions and a lack of motivation (Patrick, 2014). One explanation for procrastination is that it is a choice. We have a choice to complete a task now instead of later. Another explanation is that it is a way to deal with anxiety, boredom, guilt, frustration and anger. When we procrastinate it can adversely affect our health. In a study done in 2007, researchers found that while at the beginning of the semester students who procrastinated showed less signs of illness and lower levels of stress than non-procrastinators, by the end of the semester, the procrastinators were found to have higher levels of stress and illness…
