Name: Emily Campbell
Due: Email to your teacher by Thursday 18th June 2015 (week 9)
Paragraph:
Your response:
Introduction
-Explain the central argument of ‘A most lamentable man’
-Cleary state whether you agree or disagree with this argument.
- If you DISAGREE, state why and who you think is responsible for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.
-If you AGREE, state why.

'A most lamentable man', written by Christine Marlowe, strongly states that Friar Laurance is not the cause of Romeo and Juliet's death but fate is.
Fate is most responsible for the tragedy for the following reasons: they were called "star-crossed" lovers, therefore no matter what anyone else did in the play it wouldn't have made a difference; the universe was against them and that everyone’s fate is sealed.
I disagree that friar Laurance is the cause of Romeos and Juliet’s death and that fate brought Romeo and Juliet together and that they died together.
Plot
-Explain the argument the writer develops about the plot in Romeo and Juliet.
- What evidence is used to support the argument?
- explain why you support or refute this claim. Use evidence from the play to substantiate your ideas.

Characterisation

- What evidence is used to support the argument?
- explain why you support or refute this claim. Use evidence from the play to substantiate your ideas.

Conclusion
- Re-state whether you AGREE or DISAGREE with the argument presented in ‘A most lamentable man’.
-Summarise your ideas about plot and characterisation and how they support your claim.
-DON’T introduce any new information!

Many blame Romeo and Juliet for the choices that they make. However can you blame someone for trying to find a way out when forced into a corner? The choices and actions of other characters in Romeo and Juliet forced Romeo and Juliet into the positions they are in. Into positions where they feel there is nowhere to go but up to heaven in death. The two perpetrators most responsible for this are Friar Laurence and Lord Capulet. If they could not be so irresponsible and unreasonable in their choices and actions, Romeo and Juliet would still be alive and their relationship…

I believe that Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence was the one that gave Juliet the potion that made her appear dead, therefore misleading Romeo and causing him to kill himself. Friar Laurence says “Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run A cold and drowsy humor; no pulse, no warmth, no breath.” When Friar Laurence was figuring out this plan he could had come up with something safer or a backup plan just in case something went wrong. He also should had thought of the pros and cons of this plan before he went through with it because he was faced with a huge problem when the plan could not get through to Romeo and…

There are many people in “Romeo and Juliet” who attributed to their deaths. The first person to blame is Friar Lawrence because he trusted somebody else to deliver the message. The second to blame is Friar John because he was supposed to send the letter to Romeo stating that Juliet was not actually dead. The third person to blame is Tybalt was an angry person who fueled the events that happened. As a result, Romeo and Juliet would have maybe had a chance to live happy ever after if it wasn’t for those three people action.…

Fate is partially to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because the Friar’s plan was ruined due to unpreventable circumstances. In the very first lines of the play the prologue establishes that Romeo and Juliet’s love opposed fate. They are called, “star-cross’d lovers” (Doc A) who possess a, “death-mark’d love” (Doc A). This indicates that their love went against the stars and their relationship was doomed from the start. Even before Romeo was banished, Romeo and Juliet were marked for death. Then, the Friar's plan was disrupted by an unstoppable force, fate. Friar Lawrence tells Juliet when she awakes, “A greater power than we can contradict hath thwarted our intents” (Doc E). Fate had intervened and caused the lovers' downfall. No…

In conclusion, Friar was to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death. He didn't think things all the way through. He didn't think about the consequences. The Friar also didn't deliver the note to Romeo saying that Juliet will wake up and not to worry about it. Romeo killed himself and it was because of Friar. Then Juliet killed herself because Romeo was dead. This was all just a chain reaction to the Friar not giving Romeo the…

In the play “Romeo and Juliet” written by William Shakespeare I blame the reason for their tragedy on Friar Laurence. In the play the Friar married Romeo and Juliet to each other and didn’t inform the Capulet's nor the Montague's. The Friar also tried to help Juliet by giving her a sleeping potion so she wouldn’t have to marry Paris. He also failed to deliver the letter to Romeo saying that Romeo didn’t die, but she was in fact sleeping. “I could not send it here it is again nor get a messenger to bring it thee so fearful were they of infection” (Shakespeare 470). Lastly the Friar had blamed the two lover's death of Romeo and Juliet when both the Capulet's and Montague's had heard of there passings.…

Shakespeare once wrote in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark!/Here’s to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary!/Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (V.III. 118-120). Directly after saying this, Romeo takes a poison and dies in hopes that he will spend the rest of eternity with the one he loves--Juliet. Both Romeo and Juliet commit suicide because Romeo thinks Juliet had died so he takes his life for her, then when Juliet wakes up she takes her own life because Romeo has died. How our two star-crossed lovers died was never in question, but who is most to blame for their deaths, is. Many say that there are other people in the play that are to blame for their deaths. Juliet faked her death using a plan given to her, that is why it is Friar Laurence’s fault that Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves, and he is the one to blame.…

There are many people that could be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare and published in 1597. It is a drama about the death of a young couple who commit suicide. Their families hate each other so it is hard for them to see each other and be together. I believe that fate and the long lasting family feud caused the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.…

A lot of people say fate and the long-standing family feud is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death because of the saying “everything happens for a reason, we may not know the reason now but we will in time.” Some think because of Romeo and Juliet killed them selves even though its tragic also brought some good into it by the family’s coming together in the end, but I have reason to believe that is wrong, yes, fate could have played a small roll in all of this but, if that letter would have made it to Romeo neither on of them would have died and friar was the one who was supposed to deliver the letter to Romeo.…

The Friar only married, both Capulet and Montague for the sake of peace, to bring the terrible feuding between both houses to a screeching halt, but of course, his holy intentions backfires and it is a price that was never meant to be paid. As the Friar stands by the altar, he says; “ So smile the heavens upon this holy act. That the after-hours chide us not.” This show that the Friar knows that the young couple is not supposed to be married, but in hopes of the end of the Houses’ unending quarrels, the Friar marries them, and hopes no misfortune falls on the couple. Friar Lawrence is responsible for the star-crossed lovers’ deaths because he did not think things through, and he encouraged their deaths when he, against better judgement, weds them and keeps their marriage a secret. This also leads to the fault of the young and fair maiden, Juliet.…

Some people may believe that fate is to blame for the Lovers’ deaths. They might think that the lovers took their own lives because something as harsh as fate left them no choice, but they are wrong. They are wrong because Romeo would not have killed himself, which would have led Juliet to not kill herself either, if Friar Laurence and the Nurse had informed them about the Friar’s plan. The Friar’s carelessness in sending the letter to Romeo instead of visiting him personally proves that The Friar is to blame.…

It's all clear to us that Romeo and Juliet's love story was not a great fairy tail. In fairy tales every princess has a prince that saves her. But in this "fairy tale" Romeo could not save Juliet, let alone himself. His relationship killed six people. He was selfish to try to keep a marriage that would destroy the people around him. Therefore he is responsible for everything that has gone wrong. Maybe if he had met Juliet in another lifetime, things would have been different. Or maybe Juliet and him were just not meant to…
