Dr Gregory House Character Analysis
House
Compared to other hospital dramas, “House” is more medically accurate with episode criteria, and is also a very intriguing show that keeps viewers on edge. There are things here and there that are slightly off or aren’t completely accurate, but that’s what occurs with most television shows to maintain interest for obvious reasons. Many aspects make the show a better choice, as opposed to other shows, like Grey’s Anatomy, General Hospital, and Scrubs. An important role to the show, Dr. Gregory House M.D., the main character, adds so much humor and drama that makes the show.
“House” is about a medical crew, at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, who specialize in unusual or rare cases. These cases are mostly ones that other doctors

The vicodin addict may be all of those things, but he still does his best to solve every case and heal as many as he can. Because House can be a kid at heart, maybe too much so, his boss, Dr. Lisa Cuddy, M.D., must keep him in line. Dr. Cuddy, portrayed by Lisa Edelstein, is the Dean of Medicine at the Princeton hospital and has the responsibility of babysitting House, along with many more departments. But as the seasons go on, you can see she has a soft spot for him. Without her, House would make irrational choices that could, and sometimes do, put the patient’s life in danger. Another person who helps keep House sane, literally, is Wilson. As best friend of Greg, Dr. James Wilson M.D., must put him in his place and not allow him to get too big of a head with his ego. The good friend not only helps him at work, but also with all of his personal life, mostly because he is House’s only friend. Another important part of “House” is Dr. House’s medical team. In each episode, when given a case the crew takes a moment to consider the symptoms of the patient. From here, they guess diagnoses and discuss until they agree upon a possible answer. In which, House then tells them what tests need to be completed in order to confirm the possible diagnosis. If tests are positive they can then begin treatment sooner, but if not, it’s …show more content…
What I mean by saying this is House goes more in depth with cases and the writers thought out the scenarios more when writing the script. Grey’s Anatomy is a very successful medical drama too, but focuses more on the relationships and personal lives of the staff at the hospital, even from the beginning of the show. House on the other hand, doesn’t get into the personal lives of the doctors for the first couple seasons. In around season three or four they start to share the doctors’ backgrounds. In my opinion the writers were clever in doing this, whether it was intentional or not. The fact that there was no extra drama or personal information added to the show cast, but it was still intriguing to it’s viewers makes it quite successful. It also is another example to back up, yet again, the fact that medical accuracy is better in House M.D. because just by having a case is enough to keep the ratings

Krakauer wrote that Chris McCandless was, "green, and he overestimated his resilience, but was sufficiently skilled to last for sixteen weeks on a little more than his wits and ten pounds of rice"(Krakauer 182). In this quote it seems that Krakauer thought that McCandless was well equipped with his skills, so that made moderately prepared to survive in any situation. I feel that McCandless was rather prepared, yet again he never could have been fully prepared for the unexpected. My opinion is that McCandless was vaguely aware of the struggles that he would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness such as his epiphany that "happiness is only real when shared" was realized when his body was dying of starvation. I believed that he found what he was…

My impression of Dr. Brown is that he wants better for himself and fellow African American people. Dr. Brown is on a tour speaking to negro in churches of a run down community. This tells me that Dr. Brown is courageous and trying to inspire his peers to take action. Also, Dr. Brown is very confident in himself because he considers himself to be “A man of some prestige”. Lastly, Dr. Brown appears to be a very strong protagonist of education because he works very hard to be educated and he eventually becomes a Professor.…

He would awake in a cold sweat, then struggle fruitless to return to sleep. Days were rarely better. Loud noises such as Car alarms shattered his nerves. Flashbacks came unexpectedly at the smallest triggers like a whiff of certain cleaning chemicals. Bar fights seemed unavoidable; he nearly attacked a man for not washing his hands in the bathroom. Desperate for sleep and relief, Mr.Galavant turned to bottles of alcohol to comfort him and to drown his woes in. One morning, his parents found him in the driveway slumped over the wheel of his car, the door wide open, wipers scraping back and forth. Another time, they found him curled in a fetal position in his closet. Essay On Medical Trauma

Trauma is inescapable and intriguing in real life, but not to the dramatic extent depicted in the media. Television inaccurately portrays the life of a physician in the trauma center. Television portrays trauma as excitement and not as an issue. We watch heaps of physicians scurrying around an overcrowded emergency room and we can feel the anxiety. Every case shown is captivating and makes us want to be there. Tara Parker- Pope reminds us that television isn’t reality. She points out that “fictional doctors also see more “high-adrenaline” cases than most real doctors see in their entire career” (Parker-Pope).…
