Dr. Albright's Eulogy For Me: My College Teacher
I walked into my first dual enrollment class of my high school career and there sat 70 kids, which in college might seem like your everyday lecture class but in high school, it was a little intimidating. The teacher of our astronomy class introduced himself and spent the rest of the day cracking jokes and going over how the year was going to pan out. Little did he know he would turn out to be my favorite teacher. Dr. Albright, who now teaches classes at JMU has truly shaped the way that I think about life and education. Halfway through my senior year he told us he was diagnosed with stage four cancer and suddenly the thought of losing such a thoughtful and caring teacher became too real. During the second half of the year he rarely made an appearance, but when he did, he was full of cheerfulness and positivity that overwhelmed not only me, but my whole class. I began to spend more time with him learning about his life and all the adventures he had been on. At the end of the year for my leadership class, I was asked to make a teacher appreciation card, and without even thinking about it I began to write mine addressed to Dr. Albright. …show more content…
On the notorious website of ratemyprofessor.com his difficulty rating is very low, but that is nowhere near the reason I have decided to show up to his class semester after semester. Dr. Albright is a genuine professor who cares deeply for his students and has a great passion for what he is teaching. Sure he does not assign much work, but seeing a teacher so zealous about something and willing to pass on this outstanding amount of knowledge is what keeps me coming back. He is my favorite teacher because he has inspired my love for lifelong learning and yearn to teaching

From field trips, to tutorials, our class has been extremely interactive with one another. We have gone on a total of 3 field trips. One to Pacific Lutheran University, one to UW Tacoma, and one to Evergreen State College. Each trip has opened my eyes for possible future options. During each trip I learned of the college campus, the history, and the programs within the college. While learning these things, I had to ask insightful and specific questions. This really has…

We are gathered here today to celebrate Alaska Ann Eaton’s beautiful and extraordinary life. She had a tragic death. Going scuba driving for your 3rd year wedding anniversary and getting attacked by a shark…well that’s extremely tragic. She was an animal person and maybe that's why she had dolphins surrounding her trying to help rescue her and stop the shark. But that’s the thing about pain, it demands to be felt. She always mentioned this one quote, “The only to way escape the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive”, but let’s not focus on the pain of her death but the joy of her life.…

Knowing that getting a good education for their kids was their first goal encouraged me to work hard in school. Every minute I have spent at Science Park High I have appreciated because I know it is an enormous privilege to get such an excellent education from many insightful teachers. This will also apply to college. Although my siblings all went to high school, they did not go to college and I saw it break each one of their hearts. This will inevitably push me to reach for nothing but greatness in college, to give it me 100 percent and nothing less no matter how hard it…

Thank you for meeting with Greyson yesterday and for replying to my e-mail. Please know that I do not email often or get involved until I have tried every attempt to remedy the issues at home. If I had not seen her putting so much time and effort into this class then I would have likely not taken her frustrations as seriously. She called me from school to let me know you addressed all of our concerns and gave her some ideas and a paper we plan to help her guide for future writings. We plan to sit down on Monday and review the information you gave her. She is to show me your advice on the past paragraphs so that I can help her make sure that future assignments are hopefully more what is required and meet the SOL guidelines.…

    Teacher of Year Essay

First I want to tell you with whom I honor, with whom I have, learned to respect, and who deserve the outmost admirations. The teachers I am talking about work hard to do a great job, because, above all, it is a kind of responsibility so to speak towards their students and relevantly toward themselves. I have had several teachers in my years as a student both in the primary and secondary schools among which there were only few whom I felt to fit the description above, maybe most of them were good in their own way, but one cannot be sufficient in all ways or I may also have misunderstood them. However, the teacher that I chose as deserving of the “My Favorite Teacher” earned this title due to the care she showed to each of her students through her teaching, personality, and the all the fun had in her class is Ms. Fleming my writing teacher. Ms. Fleming is an open minded, caring person who seemed to love what she is doing. Ms. Fleming is more than a teacher to me; she is a person you could go to with a problem and she would try and help you find the answer. She would help you, but expected you to put the work into finding out for yourself how to do something. She always came across as someone who cared about every student as if they were her “children”. Ms. Fleming is like a book that gives you the right information that would help you on getting a six on the FCAT writing. About 95% of her student’s agree that Ms. Fleming spent each day preparing us for the FCAT writing in thirteen days. The first time I walked into the classroom I notice a flaming red headed teacher sitting down. I thought that she would be a boring, and mean teacher giving her student’s a lot of homework and essays to write. Every word that comes out of her mouth sounds like music to my brain. When it comes to teaching she doesn’t let out a lot of stress, most of the stress comes from whether or not her student’s would receive a four or higher on the FCAT writing. When I’m in class Ms. Fleming have…

    Teacher Tribute

I would like to tribute this to one of my favorite teachers throughout my years at Lawrence Middle School, Mr. Hughes. The most important teacher in my life I would have to say would be my 8th grade history teacher Mr. Hughes my 8th grade history teacher. The way he taught was perfect it was easy to intake all the information’s because he would make learning the lesson fun. For example I remember we were learning about slavery and how north and south had fought, he divided the class into two one was the south and the other the north. We had to argue and battle why we each side wanted what they want and we would have to back it up and the winning team would get money or some kid of reward. He made me look at school from a whole another perspective. If it wasn't for him I would probably not doing so good in school an not caring about graduating. If it wasn't for his teaching and his lectures he gave me I would not be the person I am now, nor would I have been close to graduating because before him I did not really care for school and learning. He told me so many things that you needed in life and how to become successful and the things you need to do to accomplish it. I remember we were selling chocolate for a school fundraiser an he bought a whole box of me just to show he cared. He was an amazing teacher who i will never forget. He was the only teacher who i liked listening lectures from because he just made them so much interesting changing his voice or the tone whatever it was he needed to do to make the class stay awake an learn he did. Mr. Hughes has past way he was sick an got injured and never got better he was a very wise man. I would just like to say R.I.P Mr. Hughes the teacher who made a difference in not my life but in many more others lives and just the way life is looked upon. He lived his life to the fullest I believe he did everything he wanted to he would always have these crazy stories he would tell us give us life lessons on…

My first day of college went a little like this. Coming in as a freshman I was scared and nervous. I arrived at a small building consisting of two floors and about 20 classrooms. I wasn’t really worried about getting lost, but how can I get lost in a small building anyways. After rooming the hallways for a few minutes I head to class. My class was an average of 22 students. I walk in to take a seat; it was so quite I was able to hear a pin drop. It took me by surprise when some one finally spoke. He began talking about the class they had…

For my senior year, I was fortunate to have Mrs. Doherty again. I had Global Mythology and Senior Writing Seminar with her. It helped me to learn more about who I was religiously and as a person. During Senior Writing Seminar, the second semester of the school year, we learned more about our identities and we were able to study what we were interested in. The Senior English class was the most impactful to my education by teaching me who I was as a person, rather than a…
