Graduation Speech: Eulogy For Emily
Thank you for meeting with Greyson yesterday and for replying to my e-mail. Please know that I do not email often or get involved until I have tried every attempt to remedy the issues at home. If I had not seen her putting so much time and effort into this class then I would have likely not taken her frustrations as seriously. She called me from school to let me know you addressed all of our concerns and gave her some ideas and a paper we plan to help her guide for future writings. We plan to sit down on Monday and review the information you gave her. She is to show me your advice on the past paragraphs so that I can help her make sure that future assignments are hopefully more what is required and meet the SOL guidelines.

Sadly, I'll just say that the timing could have not have been worse due to the three people, particularly one, to be standing at your desk when you critiqued her work. Let me apologize and state that she did not think it was vicious; however, you asked her if she even read what she turns in to you. Again, Greyson is meticulous and a perfectionist to a fault so if she turns something in most of the time it has been read too many times, edited too many times, and overthought. A personality trait that is good, but can be detrimental and absolutely exhausting. I hate to say it, but she is much better than she was just 2 years ago. I know you have a large class and many students; therefore, you do not have time to give

However, since this incident Greyson has talked to many other students and I have spoke to some of their parents and it appears many are struggling. I think the Advanced English courses in 9th and 10th grade need to be more rigorous to meet the 11th grade expectations. Apparently, many of them have missed some key lessons, including Greyson. As I stated previously, we had no issues in 9th or 10th

Blue made sure to see that the students were receiving positive feedback. When each of the students entered the room, they retrieved their binders and all sat down quietly. Each of the students were very respectful to each other in that whenever someone raised their hand to speak, they were the only ones who spoke. There was no character development program or a posted set of rules displayed in her classroom. In her classroom she did the majority of the talking while the students listened and answered her questions. In the high school classroom, there was quite a bit of talking and disruption among the students in the beginning. There were many students who were up and walking around while he was discussing the homework. There was no character development in the classroom. Mr. G didn’t seem tell really be listening to his students, one student had to repeat his question three times. Each teacher provided a way to show respect and understanding to their students, and then the other showed a class room that didn’t have much respect for each…

The audience for writing project one final is for my instructor Heather Burford , for my ivy tech English 111 class . My peer response that I received was very helpful. I was told that I had some grammar mistakes. Also I had a suggestion to fix where I had one of my paragraphs. Also I was told that my writing was a little confusing English wise. But that what I hope to improve on in this class. I also had some good feedback saying that I had a good summery and understanding of the article. I tried fixing as much of my grammar mistakes as I could see and hear but like always I know this paper could be cleaned up better somehow. I just do not see myself what I could fix. I actually enjoy the topic because I actually knew who J.R. Simplot was…

Jockers’ emotional abuse abated. From what I have been told, many parents complained about her. The principal was forced to speak with her, lest her actions be reported and her position as a teacher be reconsidered. Clearly, many of my peers were undergoing the same misery that I was in this class. I understand that I may sound childish, complaining about a teacher from long ago who hurt my feelings. However, it is important to note that as a fourth-grader, I did not expect to be bullied by an adult. My teachers largely influenced who I am as a person. Most were kind, and by the time I had another cruel teacher, I was strong enough not to let it affect me; but in elementary school, I was just figuring out who I was. A class of nine-year-olds should not be forced to defend themselves against the heartlessness of their authority figure. Teachers are supposed to encourage children to learn, to praise them when they do well and correct them when they are wrong. Ms. Jockers not only hampered my education, she also damaged my academic self-esteem. Truthfully, I can say that she was the worst teacher I ever…

“A Rose for Emily”, written by William Faulkner. It is the type of story that when someone reads it, they know that something is strange but they do not know what exactly it is. This story will make the reader change the way that they feel about Miss. Emily at the very end. A good story needs a good plot scheme. “A Rose for Emily” has a very well thought out plot and the way that the narrator organizes things allows the reader to pick up on sudden hints. The plot consists of the normal way people would write a story; the initial situation, the conflict, the complication, the climax, the suspense, the ending, and the conclusion. By saying this, I am going to analyze William Faulkner’s plot organization for his story, “A Rose for Emily”.…

Everyone at some point in their life has or will experience love, whether they were loved or have loved. Love seems to be the underlying goal that Americans strive to have in their lifetime. In the short story “A Rose for Emily,” by William Faulkner presents the reader with a woman named Emily Grierson, who was sheltered and protected by her father her whole life. Not only that, Miss Emily dealt with mental abuse that also came with a domineering personality. Miss Emily has never felt loved or wanted. Faulkner’s use of symbolism profoundly develops the theme of the story, addressing the issues of morality that arises from a young women’s struggle to find love.…

In the short story “A Rose for Emily”, written by William Faulkner, the negative impact of Emily’s upbringing by an overprotective father, leads to incredible pattern in her life and the obvious mental illness that takes over as she not so graciously ages. While written in five sections, the first and last section is written in present time, and the three middle sections in past tense. To set the stage for Emily’s drastic transformation from young girl to elderly woman, Faulkner uses characterization, setting and narration to show Emily’s lost state of mind and her desire to find and keep love at all cost as.…

After she had left, I started to think. Why had I done it? Couldn't I have just followed my usual behavior and sit in class? Self-hatred hit me like a wrecking ball.
