Doritos

The target consumers for Doritos are males and females between the ages of 16-24 years old. Consumers this age are able to afford Doritos themselves and fall in the Millennials generation segment. Millennials spend money on wants rather than needs for the majority of the time. Dorito’s consumers have active and busy lifestyles. Dorito’s isn’t targeted towards a specific gender and appeals to both males and females. As I said the main target age group would be between 16-24 but I believe children younger than 16 are also targeted by Doritos. Dorito’s isn’t targeted to a specific ethnic group or race. The company has a large target market and makes it product appealing and available to many different types of people. The experiencers and strivers within the psychographic segmentation fall into Dorito’s target market. The experiencers are young, enthusiastic, impulsive, and social while the strivers are trendy, fun loving, and peers important.

Dorito’s website is very bold and clear. The website is simple and anyone can maneuver through it. The Doritos Campaign for Crash the Super Bowl consists of the colors black and red. The color red represents energy, excitement, and creates urgency while the color black is bold and powerful. These bold and energetic colors connect with the target market of young and adventurous consumers. It is also appealing to new consumers who may look at the website for the first time and an interest will be sparked. Product attributes come from the Dorito’s website that helps set that brand a part from other chip brands. Voting for your favorite Super Bowl commercial makes the website interactive for consumers. They are able to stay on it and participate as if they’re making a difference.

I think When Pigs Fly is the best ad. This commercial is intriguing and can appeal to all target markets. It shows how hard someone would work and far they would go to get a bag of Doritos. It holds

The commercial I choose to do my paper on was a Doritos commercial from Super Bowl XLII. In a Doritos ‘commercial, a man working in his garden becomes suspicious when he sees his Great Dane burying what appears to be the collar of a missing cat. Next thing the man knows he’s staring eye to eye with the pooch, who’s realized his master has caught him getting rid of evidence of a heinous crime. To buy his silence the dog slips his owner a bag of Doritos with a note attached reading ‘You didn’t see nuthin.” The man acknowledges the dog with a smile of agreement and it shows the Doritos logo. The commercial’s punch line comes when the man takes the Doritos inside and happily devours the bag. As he finishes the bag and is scourging for crumbs his wife from another room says ‘Honey, have you seen the cat?’ The man from the kitchen looks up at the sliding glass door to see the Great Dane standing on the other side with another bag of Doritos and says “Nope”. The commercial then ends.…

After watching a few commercials from this year’s Super Bowl Football game, the one that caught my eye the most was the 2012 Chevy Silverado Apocalypse. It was humorous, creative, and got the point across to the audience. Compared to the other commercials of this year’s Super Bowl those were the qualities that stuck out more so. The commercial effective with the way it played out and was well set up.…

Along with pathos the commercial also uses ethos to connect with the viewer. There is a sense of protection of his mother and his Doritos chips. The viewer can tell the boy is protective because of the boys’ actions and the way he says his “house rules”. As the son is telling the man “Don’t touch my mama, and don’t touch my Doritos.” he is in the man’s face scowling, putting down one finger for each “house rule”. Furthermore, by slapping the…

They started a “Crash The Super Bowl” contest. It’s genius if you think about it. Doritos isn’t even making their Super Bowl ad, they are opening up a contest for up-and-coming filmmakers for the best ad and then using that as their ad of the year. It also keeps Doritos first and forefront in the minds of customers well before the Super Bowl. In addition, there is a great anticipation for the ad itself due to the fact that all the participants and their family and friends want to see who “won” the ad contest by seeing the ad that is chosen for the Super…

Being a part of a team is something that an athlete should not take for granted. Being considered a true teammate is the goal of any team player. He who puts the team before himself at any given moment, at any time, on any given day, is a characteristic of a quality teammate. A teammate should possess many qualities which make him have a better connection and a better bond with the team. Every team has leaders and followers, as well as hard workers and the non-workers. These titles show that a team is a diverse group that must gel together and become one unit. The great Kobe Bryant once said, "I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning…

This Friday I went to the session titled “Orale Ese: the Mexican Cholo”. While watching the girl present her topic based on the stereotype of Mexican Cholos, lower class Mexican commonly associated with gangs, represented heavily inaccurately in movies and simultaneously applying the Latino Threat Narrative to her research paper. I honestly went in very unaware of her topic and uninterested, however watching her present her completed topic and the process she when through to achieve that final topic was actually very helpful. I think that in her research paper what set her a part was taking a topic that can become quickly overused because the image of Mexican Cholos is shown throughout the hit Netflix show Narcos, but she revamps it by looking at Mexican Cholos in a different…
