Does a strong commitment to technological progress cause a society to neglect other values such as education and the protection of the environment?
Devotion to science and technological advancements is unable to isolate other governments, institutional or organization values in a society. After all, the significance of technology in a society is to improve and transform the world to a better place and its people for the better. To my knowledge and from books that I have read such as Aldous Huxley’s Brave new world, I realized that technologies concern over environmental protection and educational factors inclines as technology progresses.
Aldous Huxley’s Brave new world is about a utopian dreaming society. Advancement of technology in this society it’s so astonishing that they have reach a stage in which all the people in the society are being cloned and their destiny in life is determined from their bottle of incubation. The technology in this Brave world value’s the people by making them appreciate their position in life and the constant happiness it provides for them with the help of a drug called “soma”. The babies were brainwashed to admire specific object or situation while the teenagers are being thought of the way the technology of their world functions.
Secondly, I have been a student who has been involved in academic activities since from childhood till date, and everything I’ve ever learnt is always almost about the world’s ongoing technologies and the way to live life in the present technological planet. In school I‘ve had computer science, technical science, mechanical science and other science courses in order to know about the world and to help develop its technology.
