The unconventional bikes they rode were simple 250 2 strokes with puny suspension and motors that were cursed with engine problems. In Great Britain, they were raced in “scrambles” – 20 mile courses over the countryside. The first organized scramble was said to of been the Southern Scott Scramble. They quickly came to this side of the Atlantic, to the Crotona Motorcycle Club in Crotona, NY. It turned from weekend warrior racing to competitive racing as outdoor nationals started being formed that were being won by today’s motocross heroes like Roger Decoster and Joel Robert. While today’s popular motocross bikes are “the big five” – Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, KTM, and Kawasaki – the popular bikes back when the sport was still evolving were Husqvarna, Bultaco, CZ, and Maico. Those bikes are all rare collectables nowadays, and there is even a special class today for the “vintage” bikes. The evolution of motocross still thrives!…

One of the most important steps to get started on your new dirt bike riding experience is to actually get a bike. The most popular brands of bikes are Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and KTM due to their reliability and great quality. There are two different engines that dirt bikes have, a two stroke engine is known for mixing oil in the gas and having a ready to go throttle, which I do not recommend for a beginner. A four stroke bike is a more calm and relaxed riding bike, but don't get me wrong they are still extremely fast. Smaller bikes will not have a clutch which they are mostly used for younger kids who want to learn to ride, bigger bikes have clutches used for switching through gears, and for the experienced, wheelies. I recommend starting out with a small 100cc bike because it gives you enough power…

The most valuable activities include: • inbound activities (primarily supply chain management but also including locating appropriate, high quality parts anywhere in the world)), • manufacturing (which is mostly assembling the proper materials that come from elsewhere, but also include the testing of each product as it comes off the assembly line), • marketing (including some advertising, its racing commitment and accompanying publicity, coverage in appropriate journals, and an attractive and helpful Web site), • sales (both ordering systems and systems support for its dealers), and service (again, support for its dealers, plus availability of parts and service information for owners who are too far away from dealers).…

As we grow older we tend to forget the memories that brought us the most happiness; looking back I would have never thought one of these memories would be the start of a new passion. It all started on my sixth birthday, my parents had brought me to the local motocross track, and this probably was a big mistake on their part. After seeing the dirt bikes flying through the air and the smell of the bikes as they had just been started, I knew this was my passion and desire to become the best motocross racer I could be. Begging for that first motorcycle everyday before my birthday. Finally the big day came, my sixth birthday, most kids would ask for a toy gun or something to play in a sand box. I decided a dirt bike was on my wishful list to mom and dad. I can remember opening up gifts inside, clothes from gram and papa, toys from family friends, and everything but that dirt bike I wanted oh so badly. Finally mom and dads gifts came, I opened them all up but wasn’t getting any hints that I had a marvelous masterpiece of machinery waiting for me somewhere, just somewhere I hoped. My parents tricked me thinking I hadn’t gotten a moms worst nightmare of a gift. But, I can tell you, It didn’t go unnoticed. After I realized opening the wrapping paper was the best thing I got to experience I made my way outside. I stepped off the deck not expecting what I was about to see; there it was, a brand new Yamaha PW 50 with all the amenities a six year old could possibly want. The bike was a pearl white that shined in the sunlight, I can remember looking at the black wheels like they were made of pure gold. The bike was just what I had been dreaming about for many, many nights. Who knew that still today, I would feel the same way receiving a new bike year after year, the experience hasn’t changed I have just learned to appreciate the endless amounts of time, and thousands of dollars my parents…

“Moto-cross” is a French word, combing “motorcycle” with “cross country”. The sport of motocross was popularized in Europe during the 50's & 60's, mainly in Western Europe. Most races were held in open fields and pastures, and the best riders were from Europe. Even today, motocross is run outdoors, on natural terrain tracks. The races are longer, typically close to 40 minutes, and the tracks have higher top speeds due to the improvements in both bike and rider capabilities. Currently, the biggest motocross event series in the world is the AMA/FIM Supercross Series, which is primarily a 15 round series in the USA. It is the crown jewel of off-road motorcycling in the world. The sport is also expanding at a rapid pace worldwide. There are now supercross series in many countries, and exciting new series developing in Australia, India, and China.…
