Determination The greatest lesson I have learned in my life thus far. I have found this to be true in most aspects of my life, for all of my growth and success has come as a result of determination and perseverance. No matter how desperate the situation may be, no matter how badly it seems I will succeed. While I had experience failures and hardships, this experience taught me the most valuable lessons, making me a stronger person and building the character which drives the individual I am today. I was raised in a small household and participated in many different things growing up. Since I was young, I have striven to achieve my goals; I call it a "determination to succeed." Without a "determination to succeed," giving up in life, when a situation seems impossible to overcome, becomes second nature. The methods one uses to overcome the challenges faced in life affects how one acquires success. For example, my ancestors did not overcome their struggle for equality without self-determination to better their lives. Thus, their lives have been an inspiration for me. The motivation to excel, though sometimes forgotten in my generation, is a quality that needs nourishment. My parents taught me that it takes hard work and to be successful.
They pushed me to follow my dreams from a young age child which has carried over into my adulthood. Their guidance and belief in me gave me the strength to believe in myself, which I consider to be main reason I have experienced so much success in my life so far. I learned to go back to school to get my degree. Learning is a never-ending road, and I truly believe that I must continue to learn in order to improve and excel in my career, as well in all other areas of life. During my first year at Wayne County Community College I developed a passion for the field of associates of arts and associates of general study’s

They all wanted to see me succeed and I take that as the biggest accomplishment I could ever achieve because not many people have that support as they grow up and I am glad I am one of the few fortunate to have such a support system. However, no matter if you were lucky enough to have the opportunity to grow up with such a privilege or not, everyone works hard to get to their full potential and strives to get to where they want to be in life both professionally and academically. After all, hard work always pays off in the…

They allowed me to take the lead at times. My parents set limits, but sometimes they allowed me to take the reins — even if my decisions seem outlandish. For example, when I was around 2-years old I would insist on wearing my winter coat in June. They let me and at some point I got overheated and figured out for myself that a thin jacket made more sense. By allowing me to come to that conclusion on my own, they gave me the chance to learn and grow.…

Defeat is the secret ingredient to success.” For me this quote means a lot due to a lot of people trying to do something good for themselves or have a goal and just because they don't accomplish it the first time they think they have fail. If there's something i've learned from my teachers is that “you don't fail when you don't make it or when you don't get there first, you fail when you quit.” So where does my generation find success? My generation finds success in graduating from high school others find it in not getting pregnant in high school. Some might find it in having a lot of money or getting a career and having a family or finding someone worth it of spending their time on. Taking in consideration of how my generation is there’s a lot of ways on how you can find success.…

In “The Glass Castle” we see many different possibilities pertaining to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. We see the father, Rex and one of the daughters, Maureen, who fall victim to Maslow. Then there’s Jeanette and the mother, Rose Mary who have both seemed to achieve self-actualization regardless of their hardships. Traditionally, Maslow’s Hierarchy is thought to be achieved by working up from the bottom of the pyramid to get to the top. However, in “The Glass Castle” this is not particularly true. All the characters mentioned in this essay lacked safety and security, love and belonging, and psychological needs at some point during the novel. How they handled this though varies. “The Glass Castle” gives you a different view on this topic altogether. We see that whether or not Maslow’s Hierarchy is achieved, depends solely on the individual themselves.…

Growing up, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My whole world evolved around sports, but I knew the chances of making money playing a sport were slim. My father owns a pipeline business, and my mom owns a boutique shop so I knew I would go into a business management plan. At ten years old, my father always took me to work with him on the weekends. That was one of the best things I got; young experience is what I needed. He taught me to operate heave machinery, mix concrete, work on pipelines; moreover, he taught me what it takes to be a self-mannered, respectful employee. Since then, I knew what to do with my life and I am very lucky to have such inspirational parents to motivate me for my goal in life. I look up to them in so many ways and appreciate all they have done for my siblings and I. Hopefully, I can provide for my family like my father has for ours.…

I learned that if I want to go anywhere in life I need to push myself to my limits. I also learned that many successful people have a lot of grit. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and many others have grit as well as strong, powerful athletes like Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt. Many people who were once unsuccessful and were put down, pulled themselves…

Although, my failures I had were academic, I still learned so much from them. For example, never to give up hope in myself and never to degrade myself because I don’t understand things as fast as other. Throughout it all I learned that giving up some things you like in order to do something right will only lead you to success. To this point in life I still work twice as hard as most people because of my learning disability. But my rewards are my A’s in my…

Everyday people face challenges, but it is important that one does not give up, and to keep trying until they successfully overcome the obstacles that stand in their way. “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes and “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou are two different works written by two different authors yet they both convey the same message. Together, the two authors stress the significance of pushing harder when faced with conflicts rather than simply giving up. Using figurative language and repetition, Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou effectively emphasize this message in both of their poems.…
