Process Essay: Where Does My Generation Find Success
Wilma Borquez
Research paper Where does my generation find success? In goals. In my generation is common to see people around my age to want success based on goals they see on pictures from other people's life. In my opinion that's good and not good considering that everyone has similar goals like wanting to have a job or wanting to get married to have a nice house and a lot of money. The goals my generation wants are the same but a little different. For example, let's say that someone posted a picture on social media such as instagram, facebook, twitter, tumblr, the list goes on. The point is what the picture is about, it could be about someone eating ice cream and this people will literally make it an ice cream goal which in my opinion is ridiculous for the reason that you should have your own likes and not what someone else likes. “ In order to succeed we must first believe that we can” said Nikos Kazantzakis. Defeat is the secret ingredient to success.” For me this quote means a lot due to a lot of people trying to do something good for themselves or have a goal and just because they don't accomplish it the first time they think they have fail. If there's something i've learned from my teachers is that “you don't fail when you don't make it or when you don't get there first, you fail when you quit.” So where does my generation find success? My generation finds success in graduating from high school others find it in not getting pregnant in high school. Some might find it in having a lot of money or getting a career and having a family or finding someone worth it of spending their time on. Taking in consideration of how my generation is there’s a lot of ways on how you can find success.

For some people it takes forever to figure out that failure is not always a bad thing, while at the time it may seem like the end of the world. “We are all potentially capable of any human act.” (Roth 39). Even the most successful of people have failed at something at least once in their lives. Maybe consider though, that failure was what brought them back up to the best, hardest working person that they could be and it did not take long for them to retrieve what they had lost and made it ten times better!…

If I was given the opportunity to speak in front of a crowd I would talk about the importance of setting goals in your life. I believe success comes from meeting the goals you have strived to obtain. When I was younger and just starting to grasp the concept of doing things on my own, the word success was very forbidding to me. I wanted to be successful and to make people around me proud, but I wasn’t sure how to go about achieving such things. I never just sat down and thought about what exactly I needed to do to make me successful, I just knew I wanted success out of life. If I had the chance to talk to a younger generation, or maybe even older people who are still struggling, I would tell them to take some time, sit down, and seriously think about what specific things they needed to do that would make them successful in life. The things they would write would ultimately become the small goals that would help them achieve their \\\\\\\larger goal. When you have goals set in your life, the only thing left to do is go get them done! Yes, I know this is the hard part, but when you actually have goals defined in your life, you wake up every morning knowing exactly what you’re working towards. You strive for specific opportunities or instances that someday make you successful. You go after your…

Success is to achieve something that we truly long for. “Sometimes failure is more beneficial than success.” Written by Darren Roberts. This is a very inspiring quote for all species of mankind. I agree rightfully with this quote as it states that even sometimes there are ups and downs, falls and disruptions in life, but those problems make us even stronger and prevent us from making the same mistake and make us more successful in life. Although, if losing things sometimes make us closer to something we want, we must make a go for it. As In Homers’, The Odyssey, and Nancy’s’, The House of The Scorpion, the main characters deal with personal loss and face many hardships, but finally reach to their own respected homes and families, safe and soundly.…

Therefore, no matter the goal you are trying to reach, always know failure comes with the enjoyment of success. If I felt like a failure after finding out I did not receive the opportunity to be accepted into the school, I would not have been able to push myself to become greater. Try and you shall succeed. If being successful or achieving a goal was easy; many people would be successful already. However, since being successful or achieving a goal takes a great deal of time and comes with failure; some people rather give up than keep on…

In life, failures occasionally happen. It befalls on everybody. However, failures don’t label us as a person but can build you as one of those experiences. As Marva Collins once said, “Success doesn’t come to you, you got to go get it.” This is completely true. However, how can this be true if the American Youth nowadays expect everything without looking for it? I believe that for someone to become successful, it starts within himself or herself. If the America’s youth do not believe in themselves, they are going to have the wrong mentality for their future. Even more, if their family is unsupportive, how can they learn any responsibility? America’s youth rely on drugs and gangs to find a “way out” of all their problems. They are misguided so they do not realize that they got themselves into a more serious situation.…

In Twenges’ book she uses purpose in several ways. One of her main purposes is to describe how different generations have completely different views and moral standards. Twenge uses purpose to try and persuade the readers to believe that she has done the proper research for her book, and want the reader to feel like they can trust that what she is saying is the truth. In this book she doesn’t believe that there it is a problem between the generations just simply that there are distinct differences, and she tries to help the reader to discover why these differences occurred.…

Every generation experiences a moment where who they are and what they will do in the world is put into question. Sometimes the answer comes from a major event happening in the world, the Vietnam War for example, and sometimes it doesn’t come at all. Those generations that appear in the lull of history often struggle to come together, living more as a cohort then a generation. Because of this older generations may categorize them as slackers, narcissistic or apathetic. However the current generation is not as apathetic as they seem. Here is why.…
