Calvin Coolidge says with this quote that talent, skill, intelligence, and education will never overcome persistence and determination. Persistence is the difference between failure and success; it overcomes all things. No matter how much skill someone has, a more determined and persistent person can always be better and achieve more. In a tennis match, if a player is many game points ahead, he could lose determination and start slacking. His opponent, who is more persistent, can get the edge and end up winning the match. This is only one out of many examples of the sheer power of persistence.…

Samuel Johnson once declared, “Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.” Oddly if one were to come across the definition of perseverance they would unfortunately see a chaotic cluster of enormous synonyms that lack very little purpose for a compelling indication. Despite the realization that the definition prevails, Samuel Johnson’s statement exhibits my existential behavior during my college career. For it only helped me understand that by maintaining my feelings of assiduity I could maintain the importance of perseverance. Through my college career I have learned that perseverance cannot be simplified to just one simple adjective, but it also contributes to ones state of mind. In the beginning of my college career I quickly realized that success was a quintessential key to my education,…

Perseverance is a very important and positive character trait in someone's life. It means having a steady persistence in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. A successful person is not afraid to do his best to what are small jobs. If all the little jobs are done well, the big ones seem much easier to accomplish. You can't go through life quitting everything, if you're going to achieve anything you've got to stick with it. Failure happens only when you quit and stop trying to reach your goals and purposes in life. A person must always have faith and hope in himself, I also think it has to do with being a good Christian and strongly believe in God.…
