Decisions Determine Destiny
In high school, the opportunity to do things such as drugs, or alcohol presented itself. The way I was raised and with my beliefs in the LDS religion I would never do something like that. Therefore, I always thought, “If I drink or smoke, how will I will be able to teach my kids not to do so?” I do not want my kids saying to me,” Dad, since you did that stuff, why can’t I?” Being an example is so important these days and I believe that the world around us is becoming a very wicked place. Once my kids come into this world, it shall be a very difficult place to raise righteous and just children, with all the evil that will be around us.
The choice to choose is a very hard thing when we truly think about it. Every choice or decision we make could change the entire outcome of many different situations. I believe that our choices define us and make us who we are. We must always be ready and willing to suffer the consequences or enjoy the blessings of our decisions we make daily. I truly believe in this statement,” Never let your passions destroy your dreams, because decisions determine destiny.”
My best friend, who was a brother to me also, had a tragic accident take place which ended in taking his life. When this happened to him it really hit home of how true this quote truly is. He began in high school experimenting and doing things that were against his beliefs just to have some so called “fun”. I tried helping him and explain to him that wickedness never was happiness but it was hard for him to understand. While I was serving my LDS Mission this accident took place. He went on vacation with 3 buddies to a friend’s birthday party. That night he himself was not intoxicated but he put himself in a situation in which those around him were drinking. He decided not to participate and went out to the car to sleep. While sleeping, his buddies came back, intoxicated, and decided they would go home that night instead of waiting until the next

Before Aleza took a step into the world of drugs and alcohol, she was and still is today an active member of the Mormon church. In today’s society, more than three-fourths of American adolescents say that religion plays an important part in their lives. In study after study, these young people who report more involved with religion (they attend Sunday services and say their religion influences how they make decisions) are less likely to partake in deviance and illicit drug use (Hart & Ksir 14). However, in this case, my interviewee is the expectation. After her first experimentation with alcohol,…

Making decisions can affect a person’s life for better or for worse. Most people will decide whether to eat something or not, but most teenagers today will decide whether to complete their homework or not. Daily decisions consist of what a person will eat, who that person will talk to, where they decide to go, and the list could go on. Mark Twain, a famous writer, expresses decision making with the story Huckleberry Finn. In the story Huckleberry Finn, Huck Finn, a thirteen year old boy, makes decisions for himself, like refusing to have his money, traveling with his new friend Jim, and whether to stay with his new “friends” the King and Duke.…

Tony Robbins once said, “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” A person’s choices affect their future. Everyone has some control over what happens and the decisions one makes will guide them through their life. Everyone is born with a purpose, and people must realize that the choices a person makes shapes ones future to fulfill their destiny.…

Choices shape our lives in many ways. It is impossible to go through life without making any. What we choose can define us, can close off a part of our life that, had we chosen differently, could have led to something completely different. Many things can influence our choices, from morals, to peers, to experience.…

Anthony Robbins once said “It’s in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” People make so many quick decisions unconsciously, whereas other decisions are lamented over. Society makes choices and creates opinions through deep mental thought which is influenced by preference, logic, feelings, and reflection. Some people may even question whether free will is a believable concept. Others believe it is all within our own power to make decisions that will lead to greater happiness. Little decisions lead to big consequences because when small and simple decisions are made, big decisions are to come, choices indicate character, and every decision made impacts other decisions.…

In my personal life I ask myself these questions when I am going through a tough situation. I often ask if we have free will to do what we want. According to David Hume, “the question of the nature of free will is the most contentious question of metaphysics. If this is correct, then figuring out what free will is will be no small task indeed. Minimally, to say that an agent has free will is to say that the agent has the capacity to choose his or her course of action.” (http://www.iep.utm.edu/freewill/). And I feel we have the free will to choose what…

Choices are looked at differently by the individual person. Each choice at a time should be given a fair chance to be studied. In the poem it says, “then took the other, as just as fair,” (Frost 6). Robert Frost is saying that the traveler gave each road a fair chance while deciding which road to take. With the result of the choice the traveler makes, the decision was not a bad one because the traveler says, “and that has made all the difference,” (20) which means the decision made was the best for the traveler. Decisions in life should always be thought out especially if it is a big decision that could drastically change your life with no going back.…

They say it is not a choice considering that when we are born, we are given specific factors that in youth, we can not argue about. Although, as you get older, you are more aware of the influences around you and realize your choices. Except, because it is a biased influence, some people lean toward the common choice that all their friends or the people surrounding them choose. It is a choice because there is what other people do or the media shows and what you personally, want to do. “Certainly every action is on some level a genuine choice”, Mrkich states in, Do you Choose your Identity or is it Chosen for you?. Basically, every action was a choice because you have a choice in life. Even though people may think that there is no choice of choosing your identity, there is a choice, it is just a matter of whether you choose the biased…
