Dead Pool Research Paper
According to actual definition, humor is defined by mood and state of mind. This is plausible because humor isn’t understandable unless you are conscious about the relevance. On that same note, a movie pertaining to humor needs to be careful about what it portrays. If you stick with one type of humor; there is the off-chance of losing appeal and comedic value for the vast majority. The humor induced film, DeadPool, is relatively a good comedy; but has some obvious drawbacks by only attracting those who like crude humor. Making this a comedy that only a few will enjoy.

DeadPool isn’t your typical superhero story. Wade Wilson use to be a special forces operative, but became a mercenary. While on the job he meets the love of his life; an equally disturbing and humorous

With that in mind, not everyone finds the same subject funny and humor has to be intended for a particular crowd. Allison Wilmore, for instance, stated “Deadpool is the peak instance of the mainstream movie trend of tipping a hat to studio cynicism without really departing from it (BuzzFeed Entertainment).” Basically, Dead Pool just wasn’t for Allison Wilmore, because of it’s dark humor. DeadPool really doesn’t leave a lot of room between all the crude jokes for much anything else. However, that is the raving uniqueness about the film. Black humor is a form of comedy that a lot of people, like myself; enjoy. However, this isn’t the type of film I would like to laugh along with my parents. For instance, there is a scene where Wade Wilson argues with an old woman and they both shoot crude insults at each other; that you just can’t help but laugh at. Explaining yourself to your parents will be more awkward than the dark matter comedy you decided to watch with your family in the first place. So again, I would not watch this with your adult figures unless you enjoy awkward dinners with your adult

Comedy is defined as “a work that is designed in some way to provoke laughter or humour on the part of the viewer” (Geoff King, Film Comedy, p.3). Adam McKay’s 2008 film, Step Brothers, starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly definitely fits these criteria, and therefore is a comedy itself. Another criteria of comedy is that the worlds in which they take place are much less serious than is the real realm of existence. In Step Brothers, this non-seriousness is seen consistently in the antics of Brennan Huff (Ferrell) and Dale Doback (Reilly). At one point in the film, the two brothers are bullied by a group of grade-schoolers, and forced to get down onto the floor and lick dog poop. The image of two forty-year-old men being beat down and forced into tasting dog poop successfully creates laughter among the audience, since in the real realm of existence such an event would never occur.…

Under the expert direction of Judd Apatow, the humor keeps coming throughout the movie. On the occasion when a gag fails, it is quickly forgotten. None of the jokes in this movie are drawn for so long that they lose their punch. (With maybe one exception - the "I know you're gay because..." parts) Most of the material is about sex, with some of the funniest bits involving Andy's first encounter with a condom, his drive home with a drunk girl, his waxing treatment, and his "date" with himself. The movie is rated 14-A, which is one of the reasons it is so refreshing.…

Some other comical factors is when reverend Parris has his tantrums but they aren’t even funny, because he is just lying to save his own reputation; ruining everyone else’s. Mrs. Putnam thinking Tituba had the power to allow her to communicate with her dead babies, could be considered funny. Other than she is dead serious, and assigns guilt ruthlessly. When mercy Lewis was caught dancing naked in the woods by Paris, would be funny except she lies compulsively and she condemned men and women to protect herself. There are a few comical moments in the book but over all this is a tragedy not a comedy.…

With an owner like one of Hollywood’s most stunning starlets and what was considered to be the world’s most beautiful woman for a point and time, you can only imagine that the Elizabeth Taylor Aquatic Center exudes the same amount of class and beauty she did. With a violet matted floor surrounding the exterior of the 7 ½ deep pool and therapeutic Jacuzzi and glass tiles along the white clean cut wall, the aquatic area of the therapy center resembles the sparkling violet colored eyes the movie star was known for. Through out her life, Elizabeth had many health issues, from being born with scoliosis; having two hip replacements, back surgery, and defeating several forms of cancer, it is not hard to see why Ms. Taylor and a few of her late husbands…

Deadpool, a.k.a., “The Merc with the Mouth” was first drafted into the comic book scene when he was placed in The New Mutants #98 in February 1991. Deadpool is considered one of the most popular comic book anti-heroes of all time. Deadpool, whose true name is Wade Winston Wilson, was made subject to the Canadian Government’s “Department K,” whose main goal was to make living weapons out of people with “special abilities.” This Department K oversaw the Weapon X program. The Weapon X program’s main function was to take these already special people and further enhance their natural ability, typically without their consent. Deadpool willingly consented to Department K after learning that he had developed terminal cancer and received a promise of a cure. Department K immediately placed Deadpool in the Weapon X program and given the regenerative property that they had siphoned from Wolverine in years past. This came as a double-edged sword, however. The regenerative property was thought to simply accelerate any kind of healing factor the human body might have, primarily cell growth. This very property, however, also…

Vonnegut prescribes laughter for all things, for without laughter life would seem a lot more painful. “Humor is a way of holding off how awful life can be, to protect yourself,” states Vonnegut (129.) To go on and live life you need to be able to laugh at your mistakes, just as to continue believing in a political system you need to be able to laugh at its faults. He also believes that at some point humor becomes less of a shield against the harsh truth of life and politics. He says, “Finally, you get just too tired, and the news is too awful, and humor doesn’t work anymore” (129.) It would seem with age the seriousness of things out-weighs the humor that can be found in them.…

    Alain De Botton Humorists

Alain de Botton claimed that humorists entertain, but can also say things without punishment. I agree with him because we have freedom of speech in America. Even though, everyone might not agree with what’s being said, it is good to voice your own opinion and not just follow the crowd. Humorists can sometimes say some bad jokes. It is best to ignore these jokes if you don’t agree with them. For example, Saturday Night Live gets away with saying stuff about our government or our media. The humor on that show has sometimes gone a little too far. I am personally surprised that show hasn’t gotten in trouble more. But, it isn’t meant to offend someone. They only use that sense of humor to try and be funny. I believe it is true that we allow humorists…

I think by chance Judd Apatow named the movie Funny People, and then make it more as a serious movie, on purpose. I believe this could be showing the difference of the need genre and genre film. When I saw previews of Funny People on TV, the advertising made me believe that it was going to be a comedy. This was the use of genre film. Most people expected it to be a comedy because of the previews, the title, the actors, and the history of Judd Apatow movies. However, after actually seeing the movie, I didnt think it was a comedy so much. With George Simmons health loss and his personal life with his ex lover, him not being a good family man, and him falling off as a comedian, I thought it was more of a serious film with funny parts added to it. All these issues going on in the chief(prenominal) characters life is also reflecting on reality.…
