How the crucible is a tragic comedy
I don’t think The Crucible is a tragic comedy. The book may contain a few comical parts in it; but it should not be considered a comedy. The only funny character would be Giles Corey, because he is elderly and sincere. He is vary grouchy, which makes him a laughable character, (for example when he used the word “fart”, and is often outrageous reactions when he hears something wrong, and takes offence.) Some other comical factors is when reverend Parris has his tantrums but they aren’t even funny, because he is just lying to save his own reputation; ruining everyone else’s. Mrs. Putnam thinking Tituba had the power to allow her to communicate with her dead babies, could be considered funny. Other than she is dead serious, and assigns guilt ruthlessly. When mercy Lewis was caught dancing naked in the woods by Paris, would be funny except she lies compulsively and she condemned men and women to protect herself. There are a few comical moments in the book but over all this is a tragedy not a comedy. Braxton Bailey

Just like in the book when miller was on the black list, he tried to uncover the lies. He refused to tell the court of Putnam’s plans. Procter also tells the court to question the ninety-one people who signed his declaration of good will of the accused. In the climax the theme truly unfolds when Procter would rather hang then falsely accuse more innocent
