My report will present findings on how the internet has affected the UK economy and how is it transforming us as a nation?
I am going to use a report called “The Connected Kingdom” undertaken by BCG, a global management consulting firm to identify key emerging trends, issues and opportunities in the UK internet economy.
The report I am using for my research was drawn up for Google, administrators and managers because they need a clear, comprehensive picture of how their networks are being used in order to manage them effectively and validate the effectiveness of their impact on the industry.
The internet is worth an estimated £100 billion in the UK alone, the internet accounts for 7.2% of the gross domestic product (GDP) If the internet was an economic sector it would be the UK's fifth largest, this would make the sector larger than the construction, transport and utilities industries.
Some 60% of the £100bn a year figure is made up from internet consumption - the amount that users spend on online shopping and on the cost of their connections and devices to access the web. The rest comes from investment in the UK's internet infrastructure, government IT spending and net exports.
