However, they still have some differences situation about culture between west and east. People can realize that how difference the people look like, thinking, behavior, language and people in each continent. From the past until now, people always try to study and understanding the specific culture all around the world such as west and east thinking, individuals and collectivism culture. By this way, the awareness about culture difference can help people to expanding the knowledge and adaptive with the new environment.
As mention about empirical on cross culture management topic, I will tell my own experience that can a good sample to know about culture. I chose Singapore as a destination for my education. I have some experiences about difference language and culture that make me feel interested in the new environment. Firstly, the communication part is that really important. When I was studying English to prepare for oversea, I studied in RMIT Vietnam. My teacher taught Australian English and I also pronounced like Australian when I talked with other people. The Australian speak very strong and always abbreviated words then add “o” or “ie” at the back like “bring your cossie to the barbie this Arvo”. However, I really like to watch American movies because I’m a fan of Angelia Jolie. The voice of American is so sweet and the action when they talk really professional with me. That’s a reason I recognized those country speaking the same language but they have a different accent when communication. As Singapore, many Singaporeans use Singlish to communicate. Singlish is a mix of English with other languages mixed into the English, sometimes phrases can end with funny terms like 'lah', 'leh', mah'. Chinese commonly use their own dialects to communicate, and sometimes,

For my cross-cultural assignment I interviewed Wally who is from The Ivory Coast located in West Africa. Wally moved to America when he was 14 years old. He is a soccer coach at the Roswell Rd Recreational Center at the current age of 18, which he has been doing for 2 years now. The typical work day as Wally described is like a party because he is constantly around kids who are full of energy. I asked Wally what encouraged him to do this line of work and his reasons were for the love that he has in soccer which is a big sport in Africa and for the cash that he makes in which he uses for himself and to help support his family. To be a coach you must know the sport in which you are coaching, how to use your players in their best abilities to make the team flow, and how to actually play the sport. Wally likes being a soccer coach because he loves the sport and likes teaching the sport to young players to better their skills. Even though he loves being a soccer coach there are still problems that he must deal with. Some consist of kids being violent and fighting and not playing together as a team but that’s what you get when you are dealing with a younger group of kids. Also the parents can be a pain as well because when their kid does not get in the game they feel as if their child is not getting the attention that they deserve. As Wally explained to me he rotates all players every game to give every kid a chance to get out there and have fun but when the game is close he puts the better players in to have a better chance of winning and also said when the game is out of reach kids get rotated more often. Overall Wally says that the people treat him good they love him being the soccer coach and feel that he does great with the kids. Since Wally was already active in soccer in The Ivory Coast the job he has now is like 2nd nature. Since Wally has been working at the rec. center he feels like he has the…

Our argument is that culture is the most neglected part of management; culture matters. Converging cultures  While everyone starts growing into the same habits, culture is hard to be detected. In large cities however people with different cultures get together (NYC).  Management is not just a set of principles and techniques than can be universally applied. It is different in every country and culture depending on its habits.  The argument is due to an economic or technological lag. Convergence is supported by management educations. National pride can stop or prevent foreign occupation due to the desire to develop their own style of management. By comparison, the difference in management approaches can be seen. We need to consider how culture can be a powerful source, undermining or shoring up our effectiveness as nations, as businesses and as managers. Culture knowledge can be used as a competitive advantage. Culture as a source of competitive advantage / disadvantage  Michael Porter has argued that nations derive competitive advantage from a set of countrylevel factors such as the availability of resources, the size and sophistication of the market, the nature of government intervention, and the type of strategic linkages or networks. Each country has its unique advantage at one point, only to become liabilities when the environment changes. Managers therefore need to evaluate the extent to which national culture can interfere with their company’s efforts to respond to strategic requirements, now and in the future.  Every cross-border alliance has its conflicts and misunderstandings, however this may be unrecognized. The trouble is to recognize what matters and how much it does. Recognizing culture  We only perceive our culture when we step out of it. Culture serves as a lens through which we perceive the other. Recognizing cultural differences is the necessary first step to anticipating potential threats and…
