But they don’t know the negatives of all the publicity. A few cons about being famous are you can’t do very many normal people things like going and playing basketball at courts. Without having someone taking a picture of you. The three main pros and a con of basketball I will be talking about are developing concentration and self-discipline, strength training, and coordination and balance.
Basketball helps develop concentration and self-discipline. Basketball has rules you have to follow, but if you break them it could result in a foul for you and your team. And when you foul a lot your coach will more than likely take you out; the reason they do that is you are affecting the team in a negative way. This shows that players need a basketball to play and practice. Without a basketball players will not be able to play or practice. The basketball must also be full of air and be able to bounce. For example, if the ball does not have air the ball cannot be dribbled or shot. If a ball is not air up enough it will not be able to bounce like it should.…

Today, I heard about a participation argument over trophies being gave for participating in sports. They get a trophy for playing the sport when they did not earn it. Parents don’t realize what they are doing to their kids by just giving them things without and work or earning it. I myself am against the idea of trophies for playing a sport or something unless you or your team did earn it.…

One may be worried that a child may be left out by the coach or the other teammates ("Pros and Cons of Youth Sports Participation). According to Philips, children make more friends and build stronger relationships with teammates and the coaches rather than being left out (Philips 26). Injuries also play a big part in why so many people do not play sports at a young age. Actually, having this physical activity helps strengthen bones and muscles, which help make injuries happen less. People also believe that children will have too much organization because of having to listen to the coach all of the time instead of making one's own decisions and mistakes. Organization is good for younger kids because if there is no organization at all everyone will be out of control and not knowing what to do ("Pros and Cons of Youth Sports Participation"). Even though there are many things that could happen to children playing sports, there are always ways that one can do to prevent…

The first reason that i think competitive sports are good for kids is that it helps build self esteem for example kids have to play the sports the right way and there teammates will say good job, nice try, and good play. So they build their self esteem by being on a sport team and by their teammates complimenting them. When you learn something you have self esteem for it so you are confident in it. “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times i’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why i succeed.” -Michael Jordan…

My brother and I play basketball for our high school and that was one the coolest thing that I ever done in my life. Playing basketball is good to me because a lot of people recognize who I am just by playing the sport, I feel like basketball brings people together, and the reason why I say that is because we all are playing for one common goal which is winning the trophy. Yea. We fought sometimes but that kept us all together because the games only ask for greatness from everyone in the team. You can only be great if u work hard…

Being part of the basketball clique in high school helped me learn the intrapersonal and social communication skills I use today. As a child playing basketball was my favorite activity or hobby. It's also the way I met a lot of my good friends that I have now. All my close friends I have met. I have met them through playing basketball. Whether they were on my team, the opposing team or just fans in the crowd who admired my play. Not only has basketball helped me gain friends, but basketball also taught me a lot about life. There are many aspects of life that coincide with basketball. For instance basketball is a team game and an individual game. Like in life you have to work together with other people. The communication skills I learned from basketball helped me communicate with friends, girlfriends, parents and bosses at work. I started playing basketball in the ninth grade. In the ninth grade I was a quiet and shy little boy. I rarely talked to my teammates and kept to myself. As the years went by I learned how to communicate with my teammates and my coaches and began to break out of my shell so to speak. In 11th grade I made the Long Island top 40 team. In the All-Star game I was named most valuable player scoring 15 points. AAU became a tremendous part of my life. I traveled to several states and began to train with one of the best trainers on Long Island, Jerry Powell. I started making more and more friends while playing AAU basketball. Basketball helped me meet a lot of new people. Without basketball in my life I don't know what I would do, growing up in a tough neighborhood in New York. My journey began in ninth grade. I remember my first day of basketball tryouts like it was yesterday. Fearful anxiety coursed through my blood stream as my pounding heart beat like a drum through my chest. Tireless sweat and preparation leading only to self doubt. I would not make it, I could not make it, and I had no right! I felt slow and unable to stand up my feeble body…
