Conflict In Ride Along 2

The movie that I chose to go see and use for this assignment was the movie Ride Along 2. This movie is an action comedy film and the main cast that stared in the film is: Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, and more. In this film the setting is based out of two cities, which were Miami and Atlanta. Majority of all the scenes were based in Miami. The only time they filmed in Atlanta was at the beginning of the movie after the opening scene that took place in Miami. If we were to look at the setup of the film in Act 1, the main set up is the introduction of the characters and how they are as a person in the beginning. Benjamin Bratt’s character, Antonio Pope, was on his boat and was accusing a guy of stealing money while on the phone. Shortly after the guy that was being accused was killed by one of Antonio’s hitmen. Also we learn about the relationship between the two main characters. Ice Cube’s character, James, and Kevin Hart’s character, Ben, had a poor relationship in the beginning. In the beginning of the film their relationship was quickly tested when James, Ben and James partner went on a mission to capture a drug cartel, and it resulted in Ben blowing their cover as cops and James partner being shot. The Inciting incident from this film was when James decided to bring Ben to Miami to help solve a case. Needless to say, they both had no idea on what they were getting into. The reason that this is the inciting incident is because it completely changed how Ben viewed James as a person. Before this incident, James wanted nothing to with Ben, even though he is his soon to be brother in law. The conflict and obstacles of Act 2 from this film were all surrounded around the investigation that grew when James and Ben learned that it had gotten a whole lot bigger.
