Concert Report
It is a cold November night. I attended a wind ensemble concert which was held at Sophia B. Clarke Theater in MT.SAC by the MT.SAC instrumental music program and lasted for one and half an hour, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. I bought the concert ticket online and chose the seat in the orchestra. It was my first time to go to a concert and I enjoyed the pieces of the music so much.
I arrived thirty minutes early before the concert starts. There were lots of people waited in front of the door. Some people were waiting on the line in front of the box office to buy the concert tickets. The crowd mainly consisted of college students, but virtually the age of the audience ranged from around 6 to 50. Almost everybody dressed warm and comfortable. Some of them are couple, and some of them are the performers’ parents.
I went to the line and waited in front of the right door. I showed my student ID to the staff who wore the red sweater. She checked my ticket and suggested me to take a guild book. The theater is not very big, but it is very clean. I looked for my seat which is in row B and seat 16. Before I saw my seat, I thought I close the seat which is close the stage. Until I found my seat, I was so surprised that there’re only two meters from the stage. It was so close so that I cannot watch the whole perform group. I felt upset because of this and I told myself to choose a good seat next time. A lady who sat next to me is a performer’s mother. Before the performing started, she took some photos and we had a short talk.
After few minutes later, a clarinetist walked in front of the performing group and play the clarinet to make the low pitch, then the first row followed to make the same pitch, after that the second row followed until the last row finished. They were put in tune. The clarinetist went back to his seat. Then a guy who wore the swallow-tailed coat walked across the stage and bowed to

He was right about how crowded it would be. When we go there people were walking in the street and cars were moving so slowly. I was only eight and not very tall, so it was hard to see over the people who crowded the street. Finally we got to the entrance, and then we went to our seats after we handed in our tickets.…

When the second week of February arrived, Kayla and I left Sioux Falls around six in the morning. Arriving in Brookings a hour later, we were driven to the campus and taken to a building with a large gathering room that held other schools whom had already arrived before us. We were assigned seats in specific sections—ranging from Bass, Tenor, Alto, or Soprano. Hours of practicing went by, and we had reached the last few hours of the day. Driven to a performance hall; we ran through all the songs once more before the final…

I went to the concert on a Saturday, one hour before people were allowed inside. Since Starfvcker isn’t as known, the venue was at ___ which is a small and intimate place which I prefer. I don’t like big venues because the band’s connection to the audience isn’t really there. My sister and I stood in the back because we didn’t want to get pushed around in the front but thankfully it was a small venue so we could…

    Cultural Event Report

For this cultural event report I decided to attend a musical performance. This was a play of the classic movie Beauty and the Beast. This is the first time I have ever attended a live musical and I had an overall good experience. The one thing that I don’t really like is a lot of singing but the acting was extraordinary. The cast was dressed in beautiful brightly colored costumes. The main characters of course were Belle, the Beast, Gaston, and Belle’s father, Maurice. The main thing I did throughout the play was compare it to the actual movie and there were differences but the main plot was the same. I attended the performance with my sister, my kids, and my niece. The kids really enjoyed it, especially the talking teapots! My first impression when entering the theatre was that it was rather small which I expected. The tickets were only $6.00 for students and children under 3 were free. All the seats were full also. I didn’t really expect people to dress up in nice clothes, and everyone just had on mostly jeans and shirt, nothing fancy. The lighting was good on the stage and I could hear the cast loud and clearly through the speakers. One thing that I didn’t like was the microphones that the cast used. They were rather large and it would have been nicer for them to have a microphone that was a little less revealed. There were about 15-20 cast members in all. Some people seemed to look a bit more comfortable on stage than others. The effect on the stage, while they were singing, was great. My favorite part was in the beginning when the Prince was turned into the beast because he was turning down the woman who turned out to be a beautiful enchantress. It was a good lesson of karma and how true…

Last summer, my sister bought tickets to see a Celine Dion concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. Of course, we have to wear formal attire. The concert that we’re attending to was at Caesars Palace. There was a majority of white and European people who attended Celine Dion’s concert. Before the concert, everyone was supposed to find their own seat. The concert itself looked appealing because it had red drapes, colorful stage lights, and nice sound systems. As I look around, I saw a majority of old people and couples sitting together. The singer was born in Canada and she can also speak in French. I was a little bit disappointed because she didn’t invite any other singers. Celine Dion has a truly powerful voice that when she sings you get goose bumps. The concert had a lot of props which were used on stage while the singer was performing. We weren’t allowed to use our cameras during the performance. There were times when people will stand up from their seats and applause. There was also a time when Celine Dion cried on stage which made the whole audience cry. There were pictures of Celine Dion and her family on a slideshow. I wasn’t really a fan of Celine Dion, but ultimately she surprised me and her vocal performance led me with goose bumps! The concert experience made me realize of how open -minded I should be towards other singers. She sang a French song in the end that brought people to tears. I never really appreciated her music, but going to her concert and listening to her own voice gave me chills! Celine Dion is a legend because even though she’s old her voice still remains the same. The concert experience helped me become more open-minded. I am from Southeast Asia and listening to a singer from a different culture is an eye opener. The musical instruments that were performed during the concert were a microphone, a piano, a saxophone, and a trumpet. Celine Dion would sing and walk around the stage. It wasn’t a concert…

Entering the stadium was overwhelming, the scent of Italian sausage crept under my nose, while the ice cold water that was dripping from my head felt as refreshing as a smoker's next nicotine fix. Our seats were about two hundred feet from the main stage on the floor; however, my ears tended to disagree considering fifteen speakers that were five feet tall and assembled in a circle were only twenty feet away. Screaming to the person next to me was heard as a whisper. The crowd seemed to be…

As the show began the director of the University of Arkansas Children’s Choir (UACC), Candace Davis, greeted the audience and introduced the choirs first piece. They entered the stage in single file line, and all were dressed in black. The first song, “Kyrie Canon” was slow and in a different language with piano as the instrumentation. The children were standing in a formation that mixed all SATB parts. I noticed this when the melody started having two melodies. One melody was sung by the altos and bases, the other sung by the sopranos and tenors. This song was not very interesting to my taste. They then sang a song that was very catchy and upbeat, “Polly Wolly Doodle.” The audience was swaying along with the music. The children also made the song more interactive as they whistled and clapped in certain parts of the chorus. After these two pieces the coir left the stage. I enjoyed the second song because the interaction with the audience made the piece playful and fun. The first song was not as enjoyable because I felt the song drug on and was not a strong opening piece to grab the audience’s attention.…

The last drop of sweat my body has to offer slowly falls from my forehead onto my two-year-old neatly pressed black concert dress. As I walk in, an hour early, the stench of old wet plaster immediately offends my nostrils as I notice all the good seats are taken. I'm afraid that I am going to get stuck in the back where I can't see a thing and the stage and everything on it are going to be blurry. I notice the light hum generated by the audience and I'm already getting a headache. I sit down and slowly sink into the small seat provided by the school. Why isn't the money that my parents share every year to the school system through taxes and fund raisers put to good use to buy decent sized seats for normal people? And whoever thought of covering seats with grain bag material, anyway? It feels almost as good as a pair of favorite woolen underwear on a hot day, poking at my skin. What were they thinking? The annoying whisper of excitement and impatience is getting louder and my headache is gaining force.…

They had a break for a while after the assembly and there was a tele-match between the teachers. I can get the picture of it, students cheered happily while the teachers played as hard as they could. Typical. Meanwhile, in the hall some students, or performers, practiced their performances. After the tele-match is over, the students and teachers rushed into the hall and took their seats. I can also picture the situation in the hall. It must have been really noisy and jam-packed and all those sad little students had to sit on the floor. Again, typical.…

When I am preparing myself, I hear the crowd’s noise. They were shouting. Teens, tweens and even adults scream for the lights turned off and the music was played. It was the very melodic music I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I took a deep breath and started to scream and stopped. I grab my camera in my pocket and steal some pictures. I capture banners, artworks, and the many fan girls sitting around the performance stage. Following a couple of minutes, the formal program started.…
