Compare And Contrast Biological Psychology And Cognitive Psychology
Psychology is a very interesting topic, one that extends into many different fields. The Disciplines range from Abnormal Psychology, Biological Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. These are just a small fraction of the different disciplines that psychology is involved in. Psychology plays a critical role in a person’s everyday life; a person’s behavior will always affect that. Abnormal Psychology is a broad term; an easier way to describe this discipline would be the study of behaviors that are not normal (Disciplines in Psychology). It is done so one may better understand why a person will behave the way they do especially when that is not the norm. It is the study of nervous system, neurons, and the brain (Disciplines in Psychology).This is the core of a person’s behavior, what happens here can ultimately shape them into who they are to become in the future. Now neurons are special signal cells, they send out messages and receive messages from the nervous system. These messages ultimately determine they type of person you become. The neurons will generated chemical signals, in one example a babies nervous system is damaged from bacteria. As a result of this the neurons that contract he muscles get damaged. The baby is diagnosed with tetanus where his back stays arch position (Cacioppo, pp. 140). The nervous system is also an important aspect of the biological psychology; it is the main source of our movement and complete actions. Here many of the psychologists will study and try to process a person’s decisions, opinions and behaviors (Disciplines in Psychology). In one incident a 13 year old boy killed an 87 year old man and stole his car. The boy said he knew it was wrong but still committed the act. Now the question that remained how should he be tried. In court it was presented that he had reduced brain activity in some parts of his brain which affected his judgment in the incident.
