Introduction
Willowton oil and cake mills are a manufacturing industry based in Ohrtman Road, Pietermaritzburg. They manufacture products such as soap, cooking oil, butter, margarine and candles. They were established in 1970 by the Moosa family and has grown into a successful business in Pietermaritzburg. They have excelled to such an extent that they are now comfortably one of the most valuable industries in KZN.
The company has grown from humble beginnings in Pietermaritzburg in 1970 to become a market leader and formidable force in the industry. Last year, the company was ranked the second largest in the manufacturing of candles and margarine and the third largest manufacturer of soap in South Africa.
Under the leadership of CEO Mr Razak Moosa, affectionately known as South Africa's own oil sheik, the company has grown from humble beginnings in Pietermaritzburg in 1970 to become a market leader and formidable force in the industry. Last year, the company was ranked the second largest in the manufacturing of candles and margarine and the third largest manufacturer of soap in South Africa.

HISTORY
The family owned business Willowton Oil and Cake Mills was founded in 1970 by the late DH Moosa together with his brothers Amod and Mohamed and their sons and the sons of their youngest brother Ebrahim who died in an accident in 1967, the company began operations from premises in Ohrtmann Road, Willowton, Pietermaritzburg.
Initially, the oil mill had been built on the Ohrtmann Road property with the refinery and crushing plant being commissioned in 1970. Three years later the solvent plant was commissioned and in early 1974, the seed receiving, rail siding, seed storage silos and cake
