E1. The five pieces of current legislation which will influence polices within a setting consist of The Data Protection Act 1998. This supports the setting by ensuring confidentiality is kept and personal details are not left on display for all to see.
E2. The Data Protection Act 1998 influences working practice within a setting by confidentiality polices to protect children, families and professionals. All data is protected under password security but also kept within the setting and not permitted to be taken away however everybody who has information kept about them has a right to see their records. Although this policy can be breached it a child, colleague or family is at risk, such as parent divorce and the mother does not wish for the father to know any information but he then gets violent toward her and abuses the setting.
E1. A second piece of legislation is The Children’s Act 2004 which includes the policy of Every Child Matters. This consists of Tassoni.P (2007) page 16 be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution to society and achieve economic well-being. Therefore ensuring that different services for children and young people work more effectively together to promote strong leadership and achieve positive outcomes for the sake of the children.
E2. In the setting The Children’s Act 2004 ensures that the children are kept safe and secure. This Act takes a child-centred approach, therefore planning to work for the children and identify their needs early before their needs become too important. This Act also protects the children by the staff and visitors signing in and out of the setting to ensure security purposes. The setting also promotes healthy eating and at least I hour a week of physical activities both indoors and outdoors. As this Act is linked to the Every Child Matters Programme they support the setting by ensuring all children and young people are valued and respected and are encouraged to express their feelings
