Cheer is not just a sport. It is intense physical activity with a purpose- to serve as a motivation for the team. Taking two full sport seasons, the dedication and energy required from these young cheerleaders is unbelievable. For up to 2 1/2 hours a day, they work together to achieve their goal: perfect routines to make the Hilltop Football and Basketball teams engulf in victories. These devoted cheerleaders spent 3 days at Cheer Camp and one day at the District Camp, where they expanded their knowledge and creativity for our school. However, these days spent were not for competition, but for learning from each other. Still, their natural competitive nature filled their minds and actions, self-motivating them to execute their best efforts…

    Essay On NFL Cheerleaders

In the past three years, the NFL has faced a multitude of lawsuits dealing with the unfair payment of NFL cheerleaders. Multiple different articles support the cheerleaders, agreeing that an average of a $1,000 salary each year is unfair. However, other articles are against a higher payment, claiming that cheerleaders work because they enjoy the sport, rather than for the money. While Megan McArdle’s article, “NFL Cheerleaders Don’t Do it for the Money” uses informal diction, comparisons to other jobs, and concession to the opposition to support the claim that the cheerleaders do not deserve to be paid more, “Who Do We Under-Compensate?”, by Ira Boudway, uses a more formal diction, statistics, and concession to the other side of the argument to support the opposite.…

I am a High School Varsity Cheerleader. Yes, one of those girls who prisses around in a short skirt, ponytail bobbing from side to side and a grin the couldn't possibly get any bigger. I might be recognized as a bobbsy air head who stands on the side lines, looks pretty while only responding to the commands "Ready? Ok!" Well, believe it or not I'm not one of THOSE girls. I'm just like every other athlete breaking a sweat to become the best. My senior year of high school I made the Varsity Cheerleading squad. If that wasn't enough I wanted more. I wanted to be the person every girl envied. I wanted to be the captain. If that were to happen I had to prove that I was a well rounded girl who excelled at being responsible, has dedication, teamwork,…

I want to be a Clemson Cheerleader because I love cheering. Since I became a cheerleader in the seventh grade, I have lived for every practice, game, and competition. Cheerleading has given me some of the most amazing memories, friends and mentors and it has shaped a lot of my personal character. Having to work with others to accomplish a common goal teaches you to value other people’s strengths and pushes you to be better communicator and collaborator. Cheering is something that has become ingrained in every aspect of my life. In the off season I help coach a youth all star squad and make sure to tumble three times a week. I also grew up watching college football and going to games and I could never take my eyes off the cheerleaders. They…

In my opinion I think that Cheerleading should be a competitive sport because cheerleaders work as hard as all other sport players do. For example cheerleaders show muscle, athleticism and agility when practicing and cheering at games. Cheerleaders show muscle because they lift other people they throw and stack people on top of other people to make a pyramid. They show Agility because when doing cheers they have to make sharp and quick movements with their hands and their feet. I don’t think that it’s fair that cheerleading isn’t a competitive sport because it doesn’t involve a ball. That is why I think that cheerleading is just as much as a sport than any other…

I have participated in varsity cheerleading since my freshman year of high school. Over the course of these years, I have become a leader of the team. Through these four years, our team has struggled with leadership from our seniors in addition to our coaches. My teammates naturally gravitated towards me for leadership because of my positive attitude, a quality our seniors lacked. As a junior, I became the person that everyone would come to for help because I made it my responsibility to make my teammates feel like they were in a fun and safe environment. When our practices would become hostile, I tried my best to relieve the stress of my teammates and bring positive energy. After practices, many of the cheerleaders would come to me to talk…

Freshman year my best friend and I made an impulse decision to go to the high school cheer clinic. As a way to make friends and to make both are moms happy, since they were both cheerleaders . After the first day of clinic we were both hooked. Cheerleading to most is full of popular girls that are selfish, snobby, and don't have a sense of morality. But to me and my team we are nothing like that. My team is a mismatched group of girls that found a love in cheering on other sport teams. Spending upwards of 8 hours with the same twenty six girls a week makes anybody to become incredibly close and that is what I have gotten to. We may fight but, with these groups of girls my life would of never been the same. We are all there for eachother no…

There are good decisions and there are bad decisions, it is up to the person deciding to debate on which side of the line their decision falls on. It just so happens, the choice I made in 2013 was one of the best, most important decisions in my entire life. In the spring of my sophomore year, I decided that I wanted to try out for competitive cheerleading. The question here is, “how did cheerleading change my life?” Well, thinking back to that year, I was in a dark place and I could not find hope anywhere, no matter how hard I searched. In the time spent cheering I found confidence, my best friend, and a reason to live.…

I am almost positive that if you asked more than half the population what their thoughts and opinions on cheerleading are, they would start off with the stereotypical view of pretty girls who jump around and yell for a sport, in which they have no idea what is going on. But, cheerleading is so much more to me, as a cheerleader a word like leadership takes on a whole new meaning. On the sidelines, in the classroom and in the community, cheerleading has given me experience with problem solving and taught me how to become a leader. Cheerleading has brought me a family, an escape from the outside world, and a reason to wake up every morning.…

Even though it sounds pretty corny and cliche, the team next year is going to be nowhere near the same without you. You’re always so supportive of each and every single girl on the team and I know that everybody can trust you the most with any problem that they have, whether it be on the cheer time or their personal life. You’re always there for the team, helping out in any way possible, whether it be fixing a whole pyramid with counts five minutes before halftime or by being a representative for our team at every orientation or school event. You represent exactly what a cheerleader should be, always showing school spirit, always trying to encourage the team to be friends with one another, showing enthusiasm during sidelines and spiriting instead of just waiting for halftime, and always expressing a kind charisma no matter what is going on in your personal life.…

    Cheer Captain Essay

There are many different opinions out there about cheerleaders, many good, and some bad. Some people think of them as the girls standing by the football field, but I think of cheerleading as a symbol of all the spirit that we can share, and a token of appreciation toward the team that’s being cheered on. Cheerleading is such a vital part to many sections of the school. If I, Casey Harvel, were chosen to be a captain for the Michigan City High School squad, not only would I make sure that any negative opinions were squashed, but the great qualities the squad holds, are emphasized and constantly challenged.…
