SECTION A:HOME LANGUAGE
QUESTION 1

1.1)Language acquisition begins at birth, if not in the womb, and children only a few days old can recognize the sounds of their parent language, distinguishing them from sounds of another language. At twelve months, a child is able to distinguish the speech sounds of the language to which he or she is exposed. Children hear and get used to sounds of their own language.

1.3) This approach treats language as a field where handwriting, spelling, composition, grammar, punctuation, speaking and reading are all included. Such teaching emphasizes the relationship between these components, encouraging learners to see, for instance, that good handwriting and knowledge of spelling are both involved in producing words that can be easily read.
Example: Taking the learners out on a field trip or excursion where they can include all the components that are involved in this approach.
QUESTION 2:
2.1) Text experiencing:
These teaching strategies recognize the vital role of the reader (increasing the focus of modern theories of literature). This relates to learner-centered procedures in literary instruction.
Text study:
Focuses on an analysis of particular texts. It complements an experience of the texts.

Concise summary of story: Charlie Bucket is living in poverty and his luck changes for the better when he wins a lifetime supply of candy and a chance to visit Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.
Main characters: Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka,and Augustus Gloop
Which character did you like best?: Charlie
Why?: He has a lot of respect and love for his parents and family. He’s a quiet child

    As babies they begin with cooing at about 6 weeks and then move onto babbling at about 6 months. At about 9 months this progresses so you can begin to differentiate different languages and children begin to interact with adults. During these stages we use exaggerated facial expressions and point to things and begin to use simple words to label things. We simplify our language to suit their needs. At about 12 months babies start using words and by 18 months have about 10 words or so. As they move towards 2 years old they start to put words together to form sentences. And the biggest development is between 2 and 3 when it can be hard to keep up with them as new words are learnt every day and real speech starts to begin. Around now as adults we start to simplify less and start to help enrich a child’s vocabulary. Between 3 and 4 longer sentences are formed and children start to socialise and interact with each other although grammatical mistakes will often be made.
