Character Analysis Of Joseph In Native Son
Joseph is a cool kid who is lively and happy. He is amazingly smart and very active. He enjoys playing baseball and dreams one day to be a famous baseball player. Joseph’s coach ask him to stay after practice and invites him to the movies. Joseph’s coach calls home to ask for permission from Joseph’s mom. His mom tells coach yes. Joseph is thrilled that he is chosen to go to the movies.. It makes him feel special. After Joseph helps the coach with some chores they head off to the movies.
Mr. Brown buys popcorn, candy and ice cream. Joseph feels so special. While watching the movie something bad happened, Mr. Brown touches Joseph’s private parts. Joseph is scared and feels uncomfortable and violated. The movie is over so, the coach drives

Daisy assures him that she is his friend and she can help. Joseph finally tells the teacher. The teacher tells Joseph it isn’t his fault. And what the coach is doing was wrong. He also assured him that he was going to help him. Mrs. Daisy called his parents and told them about the abuse Joseph had endured. The parents immediately run to meet up with Joseph. They give him all the support and love he needs. Also, they call the police and Coach Brown was arrested.
Joseph is finally free from abuse. He slowly begins to heal and take part in his activities. Joseph finds his voice and grows up to be an all-star baseball player and an advocate for children.
