Introduction: Dermatologists deal with skin and skin disorders. Dermatologists will conduct skin evaluations to figure out why there’s things like dandruff, acne, and skin cancer. In some cases dermatologists will have to perform surgery on the skin to occasionally help from certain skin diseases from spreading. I became interested in being a dermatologist when I realized I enjoy helping the health of others, but don’t enjoy big surgeries where I have a patients’ life in my hands. The only “exposure” I have

A dermatologist needs to be understanding, if the patient has a skin condition the doctor will have to be understanding about what and what not to say to the patient. A dermatologist also needs to be quick, you don’t want someone in your personal bubble for a few hours messing with your skin. They need to be quick and skillful, quick so they don’t make the patient uncomfortable. Last but not least, a dermatologist needs to be mature. You wouldn’t want an immature person working on something that could make a difference in your life. Like removing a tumor from the side of a face, you wouldn’t want someone who drops the tools, giggles too much, plays around too much. I would say that over time I will be a good fit for this career. I know the times to be mature and understanding, but I’m not very fast and can become clumsy under

Ever since I was a young girl I’ve had an interest in skincare. Of course, I loved playing with makeup, but what I enjoyed most was the understanding of skin. Why does our skin react to certain things? How do we prevent the bad reactions from happening? Why does everyone’s skin react differently compared to each other? These were few of the endless questions I would inquire my mother about everyday. As always my mother never disappoints, and she always was able to answer every single question. Due to my mother’s knowledge of skincare, I was inspired to obtain the same knowledge for something I’m so passionate about.…

Firstly, my choice to be a Cosmetologist has been an on-going interest of mine since I was about four years old. At that time , when I was four years old, I was in the bath at my Aunt Rhoda’s backwoods farm house. She had heard a gunshot , so she went to check where the gun shot had come from. When doing so , she had left her razor for shaving her legs on the bathtub shelf. I grabbed it, being the curious child I was, and shaved off my eye brow. Another reason I chose to be a Cosmetologist is because when I was about 7 years old my parents bought me tons of Barbie dolls to play with and ruin. One day when we were at Toys ‘R’ Us I saw a huge Barbie doll head without a body that you could do her hair. So as most kids my age , I begged them to buy it for me., but they ended up buying me two of them one for Christmas and one for my birthday. After I got the dolls I played with them almost every day and attempted to braid their hair. I also washed their hair when I was in the bath tub. That is one reason why I chose to be in Cosmetology at ICTC.…
