Briefly explain the reasons of applicat
Briefly explain the reasons of application of halls. Explain why you are suitable to HKU’s hall life.

Specify additional information if any related to home living environment and/or travelling not covered or mentioned in Section C and D above:
Since my family size is a bit big, we need to share rooms and facilities. Thus, our living condition is rather crowded.
On the other hand, commuting time to school is time-consuming and long (more than one hour and forty-five minutes). I have to ride minibus to Lam Tin MTR station, then get off the train at Central and walk to Hong Kong MTR station and finally ride minibus to reach HKU every morning.
Therefore, only by living in hall can my time for travelling be reduced.

Reasons for applying for residence

First and foremost, I would like to turn over a new leaf by leading an active life style. It is well-known that halls in HKU emphasis on hall education which provide massive opportunities to students to try out new things and train them to be tough. Softball, drama, dragon boat, for instance, can be found in halls and they are items I would like to try and take up in the future. Thus, only my living in hall can I try and learn more new things and challenge myself as well.

Second, I would like to experience hall culture. Since halls in HKU have long history and unique culture, the sense of belonging and spirit is rich. Without doubt, it is enjoyable to develop such a strong sense of belonging which will become my pride in the rest of my life.

Third, I would like to make more life-long friends in hall. As hall-mates are the ones who stay with us day and night, we will become close friends easily. What's more, I can meet up with people from different walks of life which is a great opportunity for me to make more new friends.

That is why I would to apply for a hall place.

Meeting people who I can learn and grow with is probably one of my most important goals here in GT1000 and college in general, because those people will probably be the ones who will be my lifetime friends. However outside of the social aspect, meeting people who are sharing my major is a great way to find people within my field. Especially since the mathematics program is very small, I feel as though we will be a tight knit group of individuals and all help each other reach our goals.…

: As a first year college student I think that adjusting to college would be one of the hardest things for me to do. Making the transition into a new environment and new relationships with new people is not the easiest thing to do when you have adapted to certain people almost all your life. I will be expected to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, adjust to different living arrangements, and develop new relationships. Living with roommates may be the first ‘test’ of my freshmen experience. I will have to face the challenge of adjusting to roommates who may have very different boundaries and individual needs than family and friends from home. My roommates and I may or may not develop close friendships, but communication and compromise can build a smoother transition. College brings a unique opportunity to interact and live with people from various backgrounds and cultures. Expanding my worldview by learning about each other’s differences and similarities will likely enhance my college…
