I lived on a farm for a while and grew up around a lot of farm animals from chickens to goats. The author Nicholas D kristof reflection is something I agree with because I experinced it first hand. Nickolas stated in the begaining of the essay that " Our descedants will look back on our factory farms with uncomprehending revulsion" and that is so true. Back in the day we didn't torture animals to eat them but in this modren time our factory farms are filled with cruel animal tortures. Nicholas also wrote something new I didn't know that I absolutly loved , he wrote about an election called referendum on animal rights that takes place in California . The referendum proposes on banning factory farms from rasing animals in small pens or cages.…

Who ever thought a detention can bring so many experiences? During the Breakfast club, Andrew Clarke and Bryan Johnson have shown characteristics that are very similar to me. While John Bender has shown characteristics and personalities that are complete opposite to my personality. I relate to Andrew Clarke’s characteristics because he is an athlete, respectful to others and gets easily angered in which is what I am since I am also an athlete, respectful to others and get angry easily. I also relate to Bryan Johnson characteristics because he is smart, obedient, and he is a peacekeeper to others and I am also smart in school, I am obedient and a peacekeeper to others. The book Of Mice and Men follows George and Lennie on their journey to reach the American Dream. Although the American Dream can vary from person to person, the main goal of the dream is to gain something they desire. George and Lennie’s goal is to have their own land and make their own decisions. “Someday-we’re gonna get the jack together and we gonna have a little house and a couple of acres” (Steinbeck 14). To reach their dream, George lies for Lennie because of his mental disabilities. Even though George is lying, it doesn’t compromise his moral character because he is doing this to protect Lennie. Later on in the book, Lennie accidentally murders Curley’s wife to prevent himself from getting in trouble. Some may argue it compromises his moral character, but due to his mental disabilities he wasn’t able to know his actions were wrong. George and Lennie were not able to achieve the American Dream, but they did try to accomplish it without compromising their moral character.…

Annie Dillard wrote a short story called, “The Chase”. The story is about a little girl who plays like the boys. This young girl can easily hold her own against her young neighbor boy friends, and does. On a cold winter day as the children are throwing snowballs at cars for fun, they happen to hit a Buick, cracking the window. This then leads to an exhilarating chase between the children and a middle aged man. The story is read in many different ways, to me however, I see it as though a strong piece with countless items of structuralism working together to make an intriguing story.…

If a person is gay, there are always a couple of questions that one might ask: Was he or she born this way, and why is he or she gay? Scientists have been trying to come up with solutions to answer these questions. Some people think that it could be genetic as in one is born that way and has no control over being gay. Others say that one has control over being gay, because they argue that being gay is a choice that one person acquires later in life. In John Barrowman’s “The Making of Me,” he goes out on an exploration to try to figure out what actually makes him gay. During this exploration, he comes across some things that could be the answers to his questions.…
