Tamara Keith, a white house correspondent for the NPR, agrees. She states “There are many ways to describe Bernie Sanders - a democratic socialist, an independent senator, a Democratic presidential candidate. But the best adjective may just be consistent. No matter how you label it, Sanders' worldview is locked in” (Tamara). Basically, Tamara is saying that one of Sanders’ greatest attributes is his consistency. A writer for CNN reports that, starting from his time as a student at the University of Chicago, Sanders has been working for liberal causes for over 60 years ("Who is Bernie Sanders?" para 7). Having the history he does, the United States could use someone with that amount of …show more content…
Matthew Continetti is a journalist for The Washington Free Beacon, and states, “Since the senator from Vermont and avowed democratic socialist announced his campaign for the Democratic nomination last May, he has drawn crowds ten times the size of Hillary Clinton's. He's received a record number of small-dollar donations--more than Barack Obama in 2011. As I write, in mid-January, a poll has him tied with Clinton in Iowa. He's ahead of her in New Hampshire” (Continetti). In other words, Continetti believes that Sanders has gaining a large amount of momentum going into the new year. One of Sanders’ biggest voter bases is amongst the youth, where he holds a massive advantage over nomination rival Hillary Clinton. While young voter typically don’t have a very big showing when it comes time for an election, Sanders himself has said that he is excited about bringing young voters into the political process ("Bernie Sanders: 'We're revitalizing American democracy’”). With the enthusiasm and momentum Sanders is bringing to the presidential race, he is bringing hope to many Americans in this new year.

This scholarly article discusses Ron Paul’s presidential run in 2008. The author focuses on determining wether or not Ron Paul, who has had a varied history on what party he represents on his ticket, can be considered a political outsider in the traditional party system or as a political outsider in the third party system. Since Ron Paul has ran as a member of the Republican party and as a member of the Libertarian party it is not an easy matter of looking for electoral consistency. This source will be used as a primary reference for any examples involving Ron Pau. It will also be used as a foundational piece for defining those who run under the traditional party system versus those who run as a third party…

In the Political Typology Quiz, the result says my best fit is Solid Liberal. Solid Liberal is wealthy and highly educated. They strongly support the social safety net such as welfare, unemployment benefit, universal healthcare, homeless shelters, and public transport and take very liberal positions on nearly all issues. It says that they always vote Democratic and followed Barack Obama in 2012 and remain supportive of him today. Another characteristic is that Solid Liberals are very optimistic about the nation’s future. They believe that America’s success is linked to its ability to change, rather than its dependence on long-standing…

I enjoyed reading your post. I agree with you in most of your statements, especially with the statement that is “While the minimalist presidency can be argued to be a better approach than a self-reliant presidency as it allows for a delegation of tasks and a more communal approach to decision making, a completely hands off approach is not any more effective than a completely self-reliant presidency. What a strange that there is 100 percent difference between minimalist one and self-reliant one. Reagan and Bush II were in the category of minimalist as you mentioned that Reagan was one of this model. Now, there is an election on November, 2016, and most probably, in my opinion, Bernie Sanders would be a candidate of the Democratic…

Sanders' contends in his essay that American society has molded Americans into embracing anonymity and abandoning the "common life" and the social interaction that goes along with it. I completely agree with Sanders on this issue. It is truly a shame that the rate at which society is decomposing has grown so high. At many times throughout my young life I have already felt deeply disturbed by the lengths to which greed, envy, lust, and temptation drive so many of our nations individuals. Corruption infests the ranks of our country's leadership, and a profound lack of moral values has infected our younger generations.…

On September 5th 2012, former president Bill Clinton stepped on stage to address citizens at the Democratic National Convention and countless other Americans watching from home. Clinton’s speech took place prior to the Republican National Convention, and responds to many of the misleading claims that were made there. Clinton’s clear goal and objective is to inform and educate the American voters as to why he believes Barak Obama should be re-elected as opposed to Governor Romney. In doing this he not only gives the facts, but cements his ethos by referencing his own presidency and letting his record speak for itself on issues such as; jobs, the economy, healthcare, and even the constant bickering between parties.…

My father has always taught not to rely on someone else. If you want to get something done, you must do it yourself. I consider him to very conservative. We haven’t discussed politics in quite a while though. He occasionally says something to me about the candidates now when we see something on television covering it. He made it clear to me that he doesn’t really care for Clinton or Obama. They haven’t really impressed him at all. When Bush was running against Kerry, I remember asking him why are you voting for Bush? He gave me a simple answer and said, “What the hell is this John Kerry going to do”? People complain about the war with Bush, and how it is such an awful thing, but what if Kerry was president. It is hard to tell what would be happening. That is what he said to me about the situation.…
