This obligation usually occurs at a specific time and requires that people must be awake and ready to fulfill their tasks for the day. Whether it be work or school, most individuals have to start their day early, even if that means not having a proper night's sleep. Personally, as a high school student, I do not believe that waking up a half an hour later would help me feel well rested and ready to preform. For instance, if I stay up until 3:00 a.m. in order to study for a test, it would not matter if I would wake up at 6:00 a.m. or 6:30 a.m. because I would still be deprived of sleep. This method of thinking that a later start time would be beneficial does not solve the existing epidemic of sleep deprivation, but raises more …show more content…
If parents leave earlier than their children in the morning, how would they help them to get ready for school? Currently, many school districts use the same buses to transport both high school students and elementary school students; how would schools afford to pay for new busses to transport elementary school students and high school students at the same time? How would students with after school activities find time to study, finish homework, and participate in social activities? Ultimately, beginning the school day at a later hour would be problematic for students, parents, and even the schools

According to “Most Teens Start School Too Early In Morning To Get Enough Sleep” by Liz Sazbo “allowing high schoolers to sleep in could mean sending elementary kids to school in the dark during the winter, as they would have to take the early schedule. That could pose a safety dangers to the youngest kids as they walk to school or wait at bus stops, Domenech said.” While this maybe true teens are still not getting enough sleep to become good, productive students. If later start times mean later release times schools still need to start later for their students to get as much out of school as possible. Their parents could drive them to school so they don’t have to worry about them walking in the dark.
