Believers Convention Reflection
Towards the middle of summer 2014, my family and I took our first “faith-cation” to Fort Worth, Texas, so that all of us could attend the Southwest Believer’s Convention. The Southwest Believer’s Convention is a special convention and opportunity for people of all ages to strengthen their faith and relationship with God. For a total of six days, three church services were held daily. Me being 14 years old at the time, I had no idea what the convention would be like. During my stay, the convention provided me with the blessing of making new friends with four people named Abe, Ana, Daphne, and Elizabeth. Abe is a great friend of mine who I could relate to the most because we were both 14 years old, stayed at the exact same hotel, and traveled at least 10 hours by car to get to the convention. Abe and I originally met on our first evening arriving in Texas when both of our parents signed us up for the convention’s youth section. When I met Abe, a wave of relief and thankfulness swept over me that I already met a person. We immediately made sure that we had contact with each other by exchanging phone numbers and later Instagram usernames.
On the first day of the convention and throughout the rest of the week, I acquired a rich understanding of how fantastic the convention was. especially for teenagers. After the first

I have been to the convention for a total of two times and the convention never ceased to give me a good time during the both times that I attended. I am thankful to my parents but most importantly to God for planning out the time for me to attend the convention. Furthermore, I look forward to the memories that it will provide me with this upcoming

It was a chilly day on March 6, 2007. Me and my family were on 495 going to the Holy Cross Hospital with a slight delay of traffic. For some reason, I kept fiddling with my fingers, I was really nervous to see him. We took the exit 31A and we all shifted to the left since it was a sharp turn to the right. My big sister, Maisie, was on my shoulder and we shifted her head fell on my lap. She woke up and asked where we were. “We are almost there Maisie” my Dad said. We stopped at the traffic light and I fiddled with my fingers some more. “Stop fiddling with your fingers!” Maisie whispered to me. In my head, I say “I can’t, he is the first boy of the family, the first! Besides me!” I stopped fiddling and looked at the huge structure in front of me, The Holy Cross Hospital.…

It made me excited for the presenters that they had such an attentive audience, and made the vibe of the entire conference that much more comforting. I was a little disappointed at how little some of the presenters explained their topics; they were only given 20 minutes, which might have had something to do with it, but it would have been helpful to outsiders to explain their topics in depth, so that you didn’t need to be a music graduate student to understand the papers. Overall, I would like to choose different topics to attend if I were to attend this again. One topic that stood out to me was Steven Moon’s Listening Elsewhere: Enacting Affective Exodus in Gay Azerbaijan and if I had gotten their earlier I would have loved to attend that presentation. One thing attending this conference has inspired me to do is to attend more lectures on music and sound studies if they are offered in the Twin Cities…

There is absolutely nothing better than spending a week on vacation with your friends. Last summer, I went to the Free Lutheran Youth (FLY) convention. FLY is a large get-together where Lutheran teenagers from around the country meet and worship. Abby Ator, Lance Bengochea, Sierra Machart, Mariah Machart, Emma Pederson, Bryan Pederson and I go to Bethel Lutheran Church; we decided to fundraise and attend the FLY convention. This year was the first time I have participated; the experience literally changed my outlook on life. The week I spent in Estes Park, Colorado, brought me closer to ten people who I never imagined would become my close friends.…

A special word about plagiarism is in order. Plagiarism includes submitting a paper written in part or whole by someone else, using or quoting in your paper someone else’s words or ideas without giving proper credit, and permitting someone else to use your work in this way or doing their work for them. Using the same material for more than one course without express permission from all instructors will carry the same penalty as plagiarism. If any of you hands in written work that is plagiarized, you will receive a failing grade on the assignment. If in my judgment the offense warrants it, you will also receive a failing grade for the course. In addition, I will notify the appropriate administrators of your case, which may result in further…

One of the first interact club events I took charge of organizing involved reading to kids at an underprivileged elementary school. I served as the role model for a large group of curious young students and gained a more insightful perspective of the substantial impact that my volunteer work actually has on the community. Reading to kids is one example of an Interact event that influenced me into becoming a more effective communicator with different types of learners.…

Over the summer I attended youth camps for church. During these camps, I had to endure the excruciating July heat of Texas. The first day of camp is always the most electrifying for me because I am looking forward to the activities and games the coordinators have planned for us, but as the days went on and the games grew tiresome, I started feeling homesick, not only for an air conditioner but also for my mother, who would be waiting for me at home armed with questions about my “adventures.” During the camps I developed a greater understanding of my faith as well as forming stronger bonds with my friends.…

This fall I attended the University sponsored fair. At first I was apprehensive about going but once I learned that about one hundred dollars from everyone’s tuition goes to these events I decided to make the most of my money. The fair was far from what I expected there were games, coasters, food and shows, all this for free. I played in the carnival games and won a purple stuffed animal for my girlfriend at the time. Then my group of friends and I went of to riding a electric bull. I got thrown off after a number of seconds but was one of the coolest things I have tried. It was one of the things on my bucket list and I completed it at the fair. There were also amazing roller coasters that took you into the air and spun you 360. Going to this event was a lot of fun it makes you feel like you are a part of the college a part of the family in unity. I didn’t get to attend much of the events but after this I regret not being able to go. I highly recommend everyone to go to at least one event. This fall I attended the University sponsored fair.
