Becoming your Dream
Onet online, a website sponsored by the United States Department of Labor, describes the knowledge needed as a Registered Nurse such as Social perceptiveness. There are a couple more things that they require for you to learn like; active listening, coordination, speaking skills, critical thinking skills, reading comprehension, a desire to serve, ability to monitor, judgment, decision making, and science. These are many skills you have to learn in becoming a nurse. Onet also describes the abilities as problem sensitivity, inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, and information ordering. Then you have some other abilities which include oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, written expression, speech clarity and recognition. The BLS cites that registered nurses usually take one of three education paths: a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing (BSN), an associate’s degree in nursing (ADN), or a diploma from an approved nursing program. Registered nurses must also be licensed.
Onet explains a nurse should have tasks and duties to perform on the job. Some of the tasks and duties are to monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ condition. Next, Onet asserts nurses will record patient’s medical, information and vital signs. Then, consult and coordinate with healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit. A nurse may instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and childbirth & develop health improvement programs. Last but not least, a nurse may prepare patients for and assist examinations or treatments. The BLS cites the median wages as 64,690 per year, 31.10 per hour and the growth rate as 26 % from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations.
