Becoming An Effective Leader
A strong and effective leader possesses the characteristics of self-control, caring, motivational, clear communicator, dedicated to the cause, wise decision making, but most important being able to take charge when needed. Over the years I feel like I have gained all the skills needed to be a strong and effective leader through my hard work with programs such as the National FFA Organization which taught me leadership skills and how to take charge, and the Boy Scouts of America have taught me how to stay motivated, be stronger, and self-control. Being in the Boy Scouts we had lots of long hikes one specifically was with a lot of new members to our troop who were not used to hiking for long periods of time in extremly hot and humid weather. Being as tough as they were they could not keep up to the entire pack so I was put in position by the overall leader to lead everyone till the end as fast as I could before daylight went away. Eventually my fear came to life when I was asked where a restaurant was that I was not familiar with. I could not just leave the guest telling them I did not know the answer to the question so I pulled out a map I had got that day and figured out the location of the restaurant and told them the way and they were very pleased I could help them out. It made me feel good I had helped them and did not just turn them away. On a family trip to Las Vegas we had reservations to a hotel, but after a long drive my sister had to use the restroom really bad so she flew out the car sprinting in the hotel searching for a restroom. A nearby worker noticed her and instantly knew what she was looking for and nicely pointed out the nearest restroom.
