Barcrest Executive Summary
Outside the boundaries of the UK, Barcrest (a Subsidiary of Scientific Games) may not be a household name. However, Barcrest had a rich history of providing arcade, fruit and bingo games and cabinets for use in pubs and betting parlors throughout the the UK. Through the years, the company had garnered a good reputation for reliability and innovation.

The Company
Barcrest was first introduced to the land-based gaming industry in 1968. They began by developing arcade games for amusement areas and soon began developing games of chance for the adult gambling markets. One of the company's real claims to fame was being one of the first game developers to introduce 5 reel slots. In 1998, International Game Technology (IGT) acquired the company due it large part to its games portfolio that could be easily adapted to an online casino environment. After the merger, the company's focus changed to adapting and developing games for the iGaming industry. In 2011, Scientific Games acquired Barcrest from IGT. Since that time, the company has ceased the manufacturing a development of gaming cabinets and had its iGaming development operations assimilated into Scientific Games' operations.
