Autobiography: Growing Up In Indiantown
Autobiography
Family Background
Growing up in Indiantown - with a population of less than 5,000 people, there was little to no chance of development. During middle school, my mother and I moved to Bartow (slightly bigger, with 15k people), with little opportunity for development. After High School, I moved to Orlando with my mother so we could live closer to her job. Thankfully, Orlando (at least now) is ripe with opportunity and growth. In Indiantown, there were several of my mother’s siblings (and their children) living here, as well, but majority of the population were Spanish-speaking and retirees. So, there was little chance to socialize, other than with my relatives. And my mother’s family was anything but role-models; and I didn’t

However, I am a slow reader, so I believe that has some influence, as well. My current major, Business, was not what I would have expected to pursue if someone had said so, then. All my life I have known I would attend to college, but never knew what to pursue. My interests are so varied; what I enjoy versus what I am willing and able to achieve 40 hours out of the week are two very different things. I had always thought of being a Veterinarian, but can’t stand to see animals suffering. I had also considered something in animal behavior, but had no idea on how to pursue that direction. So, I choose a Business major, not only because it compliments my current career path, but it is also a universal major that would be beneficial in multiple areas, regardless of which path I choose. I have considered a graduate program in Business, as well, hoping that there is one gravitating towards Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Work Experience
Almost all of my work experiences began after I was 18, for the reason that it became almost impossible to find open positions in my age range. I had attempted to find a job since I was 14 – needing something other than school to keep my

My name is Miriam Morris; I am the eldest of four children. My family has moved more than what most do in their entire lifetime. I have lived in Illinois, Texas, Nebraska, and for the last nearly seven years we have called North Carolina home. My family is a culturally mixed family; my father comes from a small coal mining community that has Irish, German and English immigrant backgrounds. My mother is a first generation Mexican American with rich Mexican traditions that are still influential in our lives. Two of the core values that my parents have instilled in their children have been those of sacrifice and personal responsibility. My parents worked opposing shifts so that there was always one parent present with their kids at home. My father…

Even though you might talk briefly with some of your peers before, during, and after class you really don't get to know them. Having the opportunity to create an autobiography which will be later shared with a peer in your classroom might be intimidating, but I remember that I am also reading someone's else autobiography and maybe she/he might feel intimidating for sharing a personal story with a total stranger. Deanna told me her autobiography in which I later wrote a biography, in which she later review if there was anything that was missing. We later meet together to discuss about our autobiographies, biographies, and readings. I began thinking that we really do not anything in common. There might be small similarities that we might share,…

There are many important decisions that I made through the past years. However, deciding college major has been my biggest concern for my educational pursue. I remember as a kid, I've have had many interests in different fields, and I would tell my dad "I want to be a scientist in the future" or "I want to be a designer in the future". At the year of 14, I was told by my mother that her nephew works in a advertisement company that earns a lot of money. By that time, I wasn't sure about what I wanted, so I decided to go with my parents decision. I never changed my major until this year; Art major to business major. What influenced my to change my major is my job experiences. Over the year, I've changed many jobs, and it's not that I had conflict with the company or they fired me. I realized I'm not willing to work for others; instead, I want others to work for me in the future. I want to become an entrepreneur and be stable on the future.…

Selecting a major has been the most difficult challenge. It is difficult to comprehend that selecting a major means I will have to concentrate on that field of study with strong commitment and passion, with little hope of ever changing that major. It seems that once I determine an occupation of interest, another opportunity grabs my attention, and once again, I am in a state of confusion. I have learned that a major should associate your love, talents, and desire for success in that subject. Students should base their selection on their interests, abilities, and goals, but also what you’ll need to be happy in the future. While it would be nice to have an interest in one of the highest paying college majors, it’s also important to choose a college major that will ultimately lead to a career you want in a place you want to live. There is a major process future students should choose, or not choose, to follow. By following this process the student is more likely going to find a major best suited for them.…

First, choosing to focus on a subject that you enjoy is the most important factor in determining a major. Getting a degree in a career for which you have no passion is an unpleasant position. You might make all the money in the world, but if you’re not happy with your work, you will never be satisfied. For example, my aunt’s best friend always wanted to be a photographer since her childhood. She loves to take photos of nature, her kids and family. She is passionate about photography, but her parents wanted her to be an Engineer. She works at a Consulting company and has a great paying job but she is not happy with her fulltime job as much as she likes her part-time photography job.…

Life seems to take many twists and turns that somehow mesh into each other to form a chaotic knot of happenings. All of these occurrences are supposed to shape you into a wiser more experienced person. Many people can even pin point the exact moment in their life which was forever changed by a single event. When that event happens it becomes an unforgettable memory for you and teaches you a lesson that becomes one of the basic guidelines in your life. The event that forever changed me and was most significant to me was when I decided what I planned on doing for the rest of my life; choosing my major. I knew exactly what I would plan on doing my freshman year of high school, and that was working with kids who are less fortunate. I didn’t know what category that fit under, but that’s because I didn’t end up worrying about my major until the end of my junior year. I began putting all the pieces together of what I love doing and I figured out my career would be working as a Social Worker. I chose Sociology as my major in college and never second guessed it. There are many reasons as to why I decided this will be my future, but the main ones are my own passion, my teachers’ experiences, and the feeling anyone gets when they help someone they don’t know just because they want to, not because they’ll get something out of it. That, itself, is reward enough.…

Youth unemployment rocketed to its highest level since records began 20 years ago. It is now more than a million, and one in five of those aged 16 to 24 is out of work. Bosses say many young Britons are too lazy and unpunctual to be worth hiring. But young people are not just less likely to be taken on by an employer; they were also more prone to being laid off than older workers. The youth argue that research has shown that someone who is unemployed (when they are young) is more likely to be out of work in later life, and suffer a higher risk of low income and poverty as a result- which gives them an excuse not to work at a young age.…
