Aurorah-Lee Short Story
Aurorah- Rae, you continue to be interested in dramatic play, and this occasion was no different. You were in the sandpit shovelling sand into your red bucket. I sat down in the sandpit alongside you and started shovelling sand into my bucket too. We were soon joined by Tommy and Moira, who found their own buckets and containers to fill up sand with. “I making ice cream for me,” you told me as you continued to fill up your bucket. “What kind of ice cream are you making?” I asked you. “Chocolate and strawberry,” you replied. You kept shovelling sand until your bucket, as you did so you said to yourself “Happy birthday to me”. Then you tipped the bucket over and exclaimed “It’s broken”. “You need to try again,” I encouraged you. You did try …show more content…
“No,” you told me. We continued to build cakes for a while, you really seemed to enjoy rein-acting the whole birthday ritual making a cake, singing happy birthday, and blowing out the candles. Thank you Aurorah for allowing me to be part of your dramatic play. What Learning Is Taking Place/What I Know About You: Aurorah, the sandpit is a great stage for imaginative play, where you can turn sandcastles into pretend birthday cakes with bark candles. According to constructivist theory (Piaget, 1945), children have an inner drive to build an understanding of their world as they explore and interact with materials. Aurorah, that is what you were doing on this occasion, you were taking a special cultural custom of celebrating someone's birthday and rein-acting it through sand play. You incorporated all the important elements of a birthday celebration into your play, you included a birthday cake, candles, you sang the “Happy Birthday” song, and you blew out the candles. This is a custom that you would have experienced and been apart of many times both in your home setting and at Jump Start. Where To Next: Aurorah, I wonder if you would enjoy setting up a hair dressing salon outside or

On December 18, 2015 I had heard once that day that it was snowing. That crisp, pure snow was falling right outside the theater where 50 dancers, including myself, were rushing to get ready. I didn’t get to see it that day, but I wish I had. I was with two of the best friends you could ever ask for. Each of us was dressed in our own version of an 1800's party dress, like we always are when we preform Tchaikovsky's Classic Nutcracker. Abby's having an odd flower design over deep burgundy, Jadyn's had a full blue dress with an abnormal piece of cloth working as a chest plate, and mine could be used as a purple and gold checker board based on the pattern. Abby, Jadyn, and I were setting up the last of our props when we realized that a doll was missing.…

I didn’t think we’d ever get this raft finished, Charles thought. He sat on it cross-legged and stared down into the water of the pond. His friend, Pete, stood on the bank and watched him. It was calm and blue as the sky. “So,” Pete shouted, “Are you ever coming back” “No,” Charles called. “I’m staying here all night.” Pete laughed. he always laughed. “All night.” He had had his turn already, so it was mine now, Charles thought. They may seek counseling to process or resolve complex feelings; ultimately seeking a solution to their pain. Busybody thought everything was alright until something horrible happened. It was February 27th, no sign of Johnny Dorset. Mrs. Busybody could finally lie down and relax without being disturbed. Everything was starting to seem so peaceful, relaxing, and calm. She was slowly drifting off to sleep. Then, she heard someone yelling as loud as an elephant. Mrs. Busybody sat up to see the worst surprise ever. The terrible and mean Johnny Dorset has come back. She got ran around the house faster than a cheetah. Awe Man! , “I thought I would never see him again”, she said. “Lord, why me? Is this punishment for popping Johnny’s little, red ball or breaking all his sticks so he wouldn’t be able to play that Indian game”, she thought. Whichever one it was please forgive me. All of sudden, a thought struck her head. “I can leave for a few days”. Mrs. Busybody quickly ran to my dresser and pulled out a week’s worth of clothes. What about my two cats’? , she thought. “I’ll just leave them here”. “My cats are missing limbs and ears and they’re beaten up. If they weren’t in such poor condition, I would gladly them with me”. But, Johnny decided he wanted to throw medium sized rocks at them. Poor cats, they haven’t been the same since then. She finished getting her items together. Mrs. Busybody walked outside to the old, raggedy, blue car in the drive way. She started driving and the car started making funny noises. The dusty, slow car broke down in front of a big cabin. This is better than nothing. “At least I’m away from Johnny”, she said with a stupid grin on her…
